At the meeting in the afternoon a campaign was launched lor a new perniinent church building in Tilleston. The present building is located at 2430 V. Kev. Herbert A. Carpenter, regular pastor of the Church of Christ at Indiana Harbor, who has been supply pastor at the ToIIeston church, had charge of the revival services. Al Hassan Grotto of K;ist ChicaKo, whoso membership reaches to all parts of Lake county, will hold its annual picnic at the Whiting Lake Front l'ark on Saturday. August 30. These picnics have been largely attended in the past and afford a splendid opportunity for the members and their Masonic friends to become acquainted with each other, and with each other's families. At the picnic the. program will be opened at one o'clock with a talk by Judge Charles Orbison, Indianapolis Grand Master "f the Grand Lodge of Indiana. Judge Orbison is well known with Lake county audiences and is very popular with all the Masons in this section. There will be games, contests, sports of all kinds with prizes to winners. Arrangements have bren made to have, an excusion boaf ill the Whiting dock, so that all who desire may take short rides during the day. It is planned now to have this boat pick up Kat-t Chicago people at. the Steel Company at 9:30 a. m. and at the Forsythe ave. dock at 10 a. m., and to make a second trip at about 12 o'clock noon. All who expect to drive In an automobile are asked to inform H. W. I'eterson, secretary, at Kast Chicago 42, providing they can carry any passengers from points in East Chicago, An effort will be made to secure transportation for those who have no means for reaching- the park. Those who desire a ride will please assi:ibirs at the Chicago and Forsythe aves. at 9:30 a. m. Truck service at a nominal charge is also being
arranged. A large crowB is expected to be present and all members of the Grotto and Masonic friends are urged to attend. Mies Elizabeth Pt. Tenis. of Muskegon, Mich., is visiting Mrs. Edward Vassas of Grapevine st. Another school girl is on a vacation this summer. Miss Eva Marcovlch, of Indians Harbor, is spending the week in "Waukeegan, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Raker, owner of the Sanitary Ielicatessen, has sold out to M. Pomerance of Chicago, a former pioneer" of the Harbor.
Mackinac Islands will be visited by other Harbor people. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barker will spend a month's vacation there. Immediately after their return to Indiana Harbor they will leav-3 lor Venice, Calif., a few miles from Los Angeles, where they will make their home. The J. O. Y. girls admit that they will have the prettiest float in the parade on Labor Day. Miss Mildred Carlson, chairman of the float committee, would 1'ke to have this emphasized. The Standard Forge will furnish the truck.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Lewis, of Elm rt., are spending their vacation in Michigan City visiting Dr. Warrtn and other i ela fives. A school teacher. Miss A. Stewart of Indiana, Pa., is visiting Mrs. George Septer on Grapevine St. for the past month. The three Dunning children, of Granger, Mich., are leaving Indiana Harbor for their home Saturday. They have beep, spending thes ummer with their grandmother. Mrs. John Dillon of Elm Mr. Max rollach, a former reporter of The Times, has taken a position at the Tin Plate Mill at the Inland Steel. The Esther Rebekah of Indiana Harrier will hold its regular meeting this f vt ning. Dr. Ross, who broke his arm when cranking his machine, is now able to move his 'fingers. He is expecting to have his arm put in a cast by the first of the week.
