ALEXANDRIA, lad., Aug-. 8.ngry "bull, which escaped from a tock farxa south of the city, wrecked an automobile owned aad driven by William Richcy, of Xlwood, and In. Jured Sirs. Klchey seriously. Mr. and Sirs. BJchey were return, lnff to their home In Elwood hy way of Alexandria from Anderson Monday night and the machine was traveling' at a moderate rate of speed when the animal appeared In front of the car. Mr. Klchey was so excited , that he forgot to apply the emergency brake. The hull lowered his head In position for a charge and the automobile did not budg-e him whea it struck. The driver was held In his seat oy the steering wheel, but Sirs. BJchey plunged through the windshield and alighted on the road. She was cut tljout the body and badly shaken up. A passing motorist brought Mr. and Mrs. Eichey to this city for medical treatment and the car, which was wrecked, was towed to a local garage. Prices on the stock market broke violently at noon today, but the movement was followed by a recovery. , Many issues fell below the level established on Thursday. United States Steel common fell to 100'i, but later was carried upward to 102 on a re-buying wave. Baldwin Locomotive yielded five points, going to ;f7. There were losses of from 3 to 7 points in most of the stocks in which there was any active trading. Large blocks of railway stocks were thrown on the market. Union Pacific slumped fHe points to llS1. Reading sold down 3 points to 75. This was the' had sold in a long time. The trading was accompanied by exciting scenes on the floor of the exchange. The issues which had shown such pronounced weakness in yesterday's trading showed an urgent demand and during the first fifteen minutes gains ranging from one to over six points were recorded. United States Steel common was heavily bought and started with an advance f -'.i points at 102 ai, and after a reaction to 102 'i. moved up again to its opening price. Baldwin Locomotive.
