John McGinity Robbed of Money and Valuables in Hammond Last Night. John McGinity of 629 Adams tree Gary, while on his way home from his saloon in "West Hammond about l:0t o'clock this morning was held up at the corner of Standard avenue and Hohman street, Hammond, by two masked men. These two men were riding in a Ford car without lights and passed McGmnlty nho was driving his automobile, then stopped across the road, when McGinty stopped to avoid hitting them, the men got out of their car stuck a gun in McGinty's face and ordered him to hold up his hands. McGinty obeyed and was robbed of
$145 in currency, a gold watch ar.d a gold tie pin set with 12 diamonds valued t $300. ROBBED OF VALUABLES. It Is believed by authorities that Bernard F. Solberg. 3S05 Ivy St.. Indiana Harbor, was a victim of the same stickup men at 143th and Forsyth last night as he made the turn. Two men with revolvers w ho were standing on the corner made a leap for the machine and thrusting a revolver close to his head told hi:n to stop. Solberg was relieved of $65 In cash, a diamond stick pin valued at $35. a masonic ring worth $5. a watch at $10 and a revolver at $12. The highway men then forced him to drive them toward Hammond and when they reached Slimmer street they got out and toid Soiberg to go straight ahaed or thev would shoot. Solberg reported it to the East Chicago police and a rosse was formed and ofur hours a search was made but to no vail.
