No salvo of cannon from the shore Kitteries at Fortress Mo'iroe marked the departure of the fleet today; no tumultous farewell was blasted by harbor craft. There was, strangely enough in the sailing away of the

fleet a certain solemnity and grim-j OTen jn other states and countries." ness unusual for peace times. 1 "Can such a condition be brought Ett MEXICO LEADS. j about ?" inquired the correspondent. Shortly before 8:30 a. m.. the order; "it cim and some day will." was for departure was flashed from ship I Ford's farnost reply. San Diego will be reached August 9. A day will be spent there on Aug. 10 and then the fleet will n?; th one-day trip to San Pedro where it will remain probably a week. Departure from that point depends largely upon the movements of Secretary of the Navy Daniels, as it is expected thtt the flagship will pick him up either at San Diego or San Pedro and take him on to San Francisco .which port the fleet is expected to nke on Ausust 20. After reaching- San Francisco, some of fte ships will be assigned at once to patrol duties, but the flagship and certain others will sail on August 24 for Honolulu, arriving there August 31. Six daysi !n Honolulu and then the ships will go to Hilo, arriving Sept. 7 and leaving Sept. 9. The last lap of the journey will be reached Sept. 7 and leaving Sept. 9. The last Jap of the Journey will be from Hilo to Bremerton to Washingttr -m. tt. n r-ij

Clean

Every engineer knows what a clean fire under his boilers means. Every housewife knows what a blessing is a clean fire in the home furnace and grates. The cleanest fire to be had with any bituminous coal is that given by the famous

FOU

Aristocrat of Bituminous Coals Its long, bright flame and lasting bed of hot coals mean less smoke, less soot and less ashes than from any other soft coal. Not only is it the cleanest, but it is by far the most economical coal that can be obtained in this territory.
