The regular meeting of Whiting rhapter O. K. S. will be held on nex. Monday night. There will be three candidates Initiated. Sirs. James Judfon will be chairman of refreshment committee. Mr. and Mrs. William Zurcher and daughter, of Cleveland avenue, have returned from Terre Haute, where they visited tljelr parents. The children of William Hood have been ill with whooping cough. Paul Rlggs. who has spent two years in service, during which time he has been stationed in Texas, has returned home and wil lagaln reside in Whiting. Miss Irene Beger. who has been the guest of Miss Louise Vater of La Porte avenue for several days, has returned t oher home in Chicago. Mrs. Frank Mouse, who resided in Whiting about thirteen years ago and who now resides in California, visited Whiting friends on Monday. She is now paying her sisters in Hammond a visit. Carl Schaub Is expected home Friday from Prairie Da Chien. Wis., where he has been attending school. William Harper of La Porte avenue, who suffered burns about the face while at work at the Standard Oil Co. several weeks ago. expects to be able to return home from the Fassavant hospital In Chicago within a few- days. The W. B. A. of the Maccabees will have their regular meeting tonight, a social time to follow. Fred A. Stover, who has spent several years In Panama, has received his discharge from service and surprised his mother by returning home on Monday. The Epworth League of the M. E. church will have their regular business session tonight, at which the election of officers will take place. A social time and refreshments will follow the meeting, whic hit Is urged all members attend. ! The Beta Gamma t'psilon sororitv will, be entertained by Mrs. Donald Tarks at her home in Oliver street tomorrow evening. Two of the Beta Oamma sorority members are soon to become brides. The marriage of Miss Marguerite Schaub and George Hornet !s to take place at the Sacred Heart church next Monday morning. The marriage of Miss Louise Mattern to Roscoe Harris it is known will take place very soon, the date to be announced this evening '-at a party to be given in her honor by her sister, Mrs. Waldo Jennings. Corp. Raymond Schaub, Whiting, who is with the 23rd engineers, is now at Camp Grant awaiting demobilization, expecting to return home within a few days. Mrs. J. J. Kelly of Indiana boulevard Is at Techny. 111., where she is at the home of friends, hoping the change will benefit her health. As a result of the recent dissatisfaction expressed by the people of Whiting regarding the service rendered them by the Western -L"nion Telegraph Co., the complaints have borne fruit.
