Wal.-a and other representatives of Irish-American societies. The statement from the Irish office F.tys that the Walsh reports contain tos exaggerations and statements that are utterly untrue. Some of

HURT IN COLLISION Earl Fite. who lives at SOI Ohio street. Michigan City. Ind.. while drivinghis automobile north on Columbia avenue. Hammond, last night. was Rtruck by an eaatbound Gary interurban street car. No. 125. ' The automobile was smashed and Fite, who was badly injured, was taken to St. Margaret's hospital In the Hammond police patrol.
HASN'T MISSED DAY IN LAST NINE YEARS Miss Garnet Boyer, who graduated with the senior class from the Hammond Industrial hih school this week, has a record for attendance seldom equalled. Miss Boyer has not been absent from school a single day during the last nine years. Her parents reside at Wheeler, but she is staying with her uncle, W. F. Mashino. at 81 Detroit street.
Ward is thought y the Hammond police to be responsible for many of the robberies which have taken place in Hammond lately. When Ward's rooms were searched the suitcase and oth?r things which had been stolen from Dr. Carroll's office Sunday night were found. Chief Austgen and Court Bailiff James Trost took Ward to Crown Point this morning, where he will be tried in the criminal court.
SOLDIERS FISH WITHGRENADES Indianapolis, Ind., June IT. Fishing with hand grenades is the latest in Indiana. The arrest of three soldiers who were reported killing fish in Fall Creek, near Fort Benjamin Harrison, by exploding hand grenades has been ordered by Richard Lieber. chair-nan of the state conservation commission, who filed affidavits against them. Military officials will turn the men over to civil authorities for prosecution.
POLICE ARREST MAN WHO ROBBED M. D. Taddy J. Ward, a painter who lives at 26 Plummer avenue. Hammond, was arrested last night at his home by Captain Strong and Officers Bunde and Elnsele, charged with robbery.

Real issues of the Ford-Tribune $1.000.000 libel suit were written into the trial today when Judge Tucker ruled that the issue of preparedness is not revelant. Judge Tucker's ruling makes the question of whether what Ford may have said or done Justifies the criticism aimed at him in th Tribune editorial, the real issue in the case.

FARMER KILLS SELF AND TWO CHILDREN MONTI CELLO, IND.. June 17. Lemiel Potts, a farmer living rfear this city, early today shot and killed two of his three children and then killed himself. A revolver was used by Potta to slay the two children. Ernest, aged 11. and Everett, agted nine, and
