PITCHER'S DUEL FOR SUNDAY
Hammond semi-pro fans will get a treat of the season tomorrow, Sunday, Juno ,Sth, when Fred Holdworth's Hawthornes make their first appearance here. Buckeye, who so far this reason has shown himself a bit too classy for the clubs that have faced him, will start for Hammond, while none other than Dick Cantwell will twirl for Hawthorne. That a corking good game is looked for Is to be considered by the talent Holdworth has on his club. They are all ex-American and National leaguers, who work at the Western Electric, and only play en Sunday. The Chicago papers voice very strong in favor of the Hammond club. In fact. Manager Jim is having a hard time to get the top notchers to play here so early, as they do not ear to stack up against his curving crew, and for those who do not know or have not followed the fortunes of the Hammond club, let It be known that Xagel Is just as great a favorite In Chicago as he is right here In Hammond and all his many friends are pulling hard for him to land a pennant. Only yesterday, a leading Chicago paper stated through Its sporting "sheet that Hammond is open to meet all the big guns of the Chicago league
Local fans are loyal supporters of J. J. Xagel, and they are well aware of the fact that the busy manager of the local club has left no stone unturned to provide the best for his city. J. J. also appreciates the support of his trade and he always expands his whole efforts in providing a team that will not only be in the runing, but give a fast article of base ball. What the fans want Is a high class brand of baseball and be It said to the credit of J. J. Nagel that that is always his first object. He stands for what will put Hammond foremost in semi-pro baseball. Cullen and Thompson have fully recovered and will be back in the lineup Sunday. Game starts at three p. m. sharp.

TAGGING ALL THE BASES By JACK VEIOCK I. N. S. Sports Editor
THE Tirates are r'sponsible for the Giants' longest losing streak At the season three in a row. WHILE Babe Adams toyed with the league leaders, his matt smacked four McCJraw twirlers for three triples, three doubles and five singles. THK lowly Senators again showed signs of life and the Browns, their next door neighbors, were the victims.
LEW MA LONE overran third during a ninth inning rally by the Dodgers, thereby ending, to the keen satisfaction of the Reds, another "might have been" game. THE hero of the "Yellowbacks" could not ask for a sweeter chance than accepted by Heatchcote in the PhilheCard game. With one to tie, two to win, two down in the ninth, two on and two strikers and three palls. Hcathcote singled, red fire, calcium and curtain.
THE Ked Sox placed a period on Howard Ehmke's three in a row and Veach drew thre,e of the six Tiger hits collected off Pennock. WHEN" Ollie Chill chilled the Tigers for disputing a decision he chased Bush. Toung and Heilman out of the game and Manager Jennings and Coach Hawley off the coaching line. HERZOG celebrated "Gowdy Day" by hitting for four sacks and the only score in the Braves-Cub argument.
