The marriage cf Miss Eileen Armstrong and Donald Ferguson, a brother of Mrs. August Heide, occurred at the Heide home on Thursday afternoon. The young people are from Oconto, Wis., and planned the marriage as a surprise to their many friends. The condition of Mrs. K. R. Cole who has teen very ill the past few days, is greatly improved her many friends will be glad to know.

The lightning on Monday evening struck the chimney on the residence of Rev. A. Badina, knocking the chimney over and also breaking loose some piaster inside the house.

McGowan will be very sorry to hear of i his death which occured at his homj
in the "West Park addition at 12:30 Wednesday evening. Mr. McGowan had been troubled for a number of years previous to his death with high blood pressure and his death was due to a paralytic stroke which happened on Tuesday evening, after his return from work and he remained unconscious for twenty-one hours. He was employed as a day watchman on the Pennsylvania railroad and was stationed at the corner of Oliver and 117th streets. Previous to that time he was an employe of the Standard Oil Co., for 25 years. Whil working as a watchman he made a friend of every Whiting High school boy and girl who passed the corner of 117th and Oliver streets on their way to and from school, every day and all of these will also miss him and his cheery smile and friendly wave of the hand, which each one was sura to get for he was a lover of boys and girls and the boys and girls loved him. Fourteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. McGowan and six children came to Robertsdale and

He passed away at sixty years of age and leaves to mourn h's loss hi wife, thrpe daughters, Sadie, Mamie and Gertrude, three sons, Thomas, Michael and Robert, one brother Jack McGowan of Chicago, and a hoast of sympathetic friends. Kurenal serv.ces of Michael McGowan will be held at the Sacred Heart church Saturday morning at 0 o'clock with Father Muller officiating. Burial at Olivet. Chicago. The Ladies' B.ble class met at the homo of Mrs. Herman Regner, of Indiana blvd.. Thursday evening. A large number of members attended the meetins and i. very enjoyable evening- was spent after the business had been disposed with. Mrs. Regner served a very dainty luncheon. Mrs. John Peterson, of Mrytle ave., was called to Bargar, Mich., Thursday by the death of her uncle, Charles Freundt. Mrs. William Tlmm, of Lake ave., and Mrs. Russell McCarthy, of Indiana blvd., were Chicago visitors Thursday.
