r!NTE9NT!ONL NCWS SERVICE WASHINGTON, June 4. With William J. Flynn, former chief of the United States secret service in charge of the bureau of investigation, the department of justice renewed the nation-wide bomb hunt with the prospect of adding scores to the number of arrests already made. The appointment of Flynn, reputed to bs the foremost authority
on anarchists and their activities.
in the country, as head of the bureau, was taken here to mean a complete re-organization of the man-hunting division of the ' department of justice and the co-ordination of all other government agencies combatting radicalism. 70 AIBZACY AX3ESTID. With about tivtr.ty arrfsts already made in raids uprn radical forces, officials declined today to state whether any of those detained have been definitely connected ith the series of bomb outrages that hns s-'irred the nation. They made it plain, however, that the round-up would continue.
II I ,, , .mm II WWgW In the meantime, despite th discovery yesterday of what arpeared :o he several valuable clues, the authorities today were still without success in their efforts to identify the man who was blown to pieces by the bomb with which he hoped to end the life of Attorney General Palmer. Hovever. it was said upon exce'len; authority that he planned to make sonimarked chant's in the bureau of investigation w ith a i Spw to ineronsins its efficiency for the work directly " hand. WILL RUSK LEGISLATION. Rush legislation to curb the actvt- -s of anarchists, to prevent the spread ?f their propaganda. te provide ade-iuar? punishment for outrages and to reStr-t. if not prohibit immigration, w i": h '.Iv immediate effect of the bomb outrages. Representative Johnson, of "ashinp'on. chairman of the house committee on 1111mieration. declared today. Th form of this legislation, he sail, will be taken up for discussion by tt ? cotnmittee-when it meets tomorrow, ain the prevailing- sentiment anion members of the committee, was to lose no time in getting the bill out from tb committee and into the house for immediate rassate. "It appears to m-V" said Johr.fn. "that these plots w er i desitn-d and cat -ried out more for vhe purpose of arousing what the rr.ar-hisis and Sooi al'.sts allied with the r.r.a r chist s. define as class consciousness, than for the rurpo?t of taking life or destrovinsr rrep'rty. It is part of their organist! plan of fixing attention on what they demard and spreading terror to j.o.-omplish their ends. Th purpose does not char.ee the reprehensible character of the act, aijd it is the duty of ronjrress to take ensr.izance and move quickly and effectively in the matter." Johnson believed th anarchistic outbreaks in this country can he a'tnbuttd in part to the lax immigration laws which have permitted th influx in recent jcars of undesirable aliens from Europe who have herded in the eastern cities and are now hatching their devilish schemes. Ke would shut off immigration for a term of years.
