Into this harbor this morning. Radio Operator Enslngn H. R. Rodd, of Cleveland. O.. said that his outfit was working: perfectly. Word came from the destroyers that they had tried all night to pick up tho XC-4 by wireless. but couldn't cet her wave length. AVlthout seeing a light all night the XC-4 held her course on the water for Chatham harbor. "Everyone aboard Is tired and hungry but In A-l condition." said an officer of the plane. WILL CROSS OCEAN. "We are, determined to cross tho ocean and this motor trouble doesn't discourage us In tho least." The officer explained that the only troubla experienced by the XC-4 was one of her four motors. "We wera traveling along about 2.000 feet up at the rate of about 75 miles an hour," he said, "when the oil In the motor became overheated. This put the whole works out cf gear. We made temporary repairs, but it was no usf. When we got 100 miles off Cape Cod in the direction of Cape Sable we had to come down. It was shortly before 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon when we landed. The sea was smooth and wo had no trouble In marking the water. We mapped out a course to the naval air station at Chatham and came along without much trouble." XC-4 was nicknamed "Nancy" by the naval fivers. She nas first sighted at 5:14 this morning by ;oast guardsmen at Station Xo. 4. The plane nas then a mile and a half off Chatham Dar. Slowly the plane came op to the beach. Lieut. Commander Read said he was not sure that the repairs on the motor could be completed today. He felt sure, however, that the XC-4. would be able to take the air for the flight bark to Rockaway tomorrow morning at the latest.

Harrison, governor-general of the Philippines, was today causing the health department of th capital considrable worry. Miss Wrentmore, according to a telegram purporting to come from the California state board of health, with her mother, had broken quarantine at Berkeley and was on her way to Washington to wed Gov. Harrison, Health officers today were posted at the Union station with ln-
