Marion of Atchison avenue were Hammond visitors Saturday. HOBART Houben StoufTer, who has been In poor health during the past few months, passed away at his home in the south part of town Saturday morning. Funeral services will be conducted at the StoufTer home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The local Odd Follows Lodge No. 333 celebrated their 100th anniversary last Saturday evening at their hall on Main street. A fine program was given and composed of an address by Tref. Thiol, piano music by Prof. Ripley and vocal solo by Walter McPhearson. Miss Miller of Chicago rendered several vocal selections and she was accompanied by Miss Baker. Following the program a diner was served and was supervised by the Rebecca lodge which is the auxiliary of Odd P'ellows lodge. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing, music being furnished by the Symphony Orchestra of Chicago. One feature of the evening being a quadrilf which was directed by West Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Holliday of Chicago visited here over Sunday with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wood and family of Plymouth are visiting for a. few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. II. J. Wood. Geo. Fleck visited with friends In Chicago yesterday. MUNSTER Miss Mary McRae spent the weeklend visiting friends in Valparaiso. A box social was given at the public school Friday evening. Mrs. H. F.' Kaske and daughter Helen were in Chicago Friday. Mr. and Mrs. W. Ferpatra have another baby son at their home. Ilcnryl Bielt has finished assessing personal property and now Hugo Kasko is assessing and valuing the land. Mrs. John Kingma of Lansing visited her sister Mrs. P. C. Tanis Saturday. Miss Erna Kaske spent Saturday and Sunday with Miss Helen Peffrs at Hammond. Mrs. N". Kirsh and Mrv J. Kuhlman were among the Hammond shoppers Friday. Jacob Munster is taking the school census. Peter Tanis spent Saturday afternoon i in Hammond. F.jrl Wagner, who was stricken with appendicitis last Thursday, is somewhat improved but stiil confined to his bed. J. The marriage of Mies Susan Caroline Vineent. of Whiting, and George Mullen Johnson, of :hl--ago, which took place on Saturday, April 6th. but which was kept a secret until now, will rom as a surprise to the many friends of the young couple. The marriage was performed by Rev. Holt, at the Methodist parsonage in Wheaton. Illinois. The brld is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Vin'-ent of 301 Laporte avenue and is a graduatee of the local high school, after which she attended the Art Institute in Chicago where she met her husband, who wa;J also a student there. She now hold a position with the Standard O.l Company of Whiting. The groom Is an artist and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson of South Shore Drive, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson will for the present reside part of the time with her parents and part with his parents in Chicago. In honor of the nuptial event Mr. and Mrs. Vincent entertained the Johnson family at dinner on Saturday evening. John Cleinak. age 53 years, of 121st street, passed away at the county poor farm in Crown Foint on Saturday, after a protracted illness with tuberculosis. Clemak leaves a family who reside in Europe. Th funeral was held yesterday in charge of Undertaker Baran, services being held at St. John's Slovak church. Interment beinK at St. John's cemetery. A ten and a half pound daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Dimmock. Jr., of Ohio avenue. Mother and babe are getting along nicely. John Cahlll. brother of Mrs. .J. L'nknown persons gained entrance to the frame building of the public schoo and did much malicious damage, such as ruining the childrens' work, books, chalk, etc. Andy Kudsky was arrested by Officer Benak on the charge of assault and battery, upon Anna Rakusak. Kudsky waa release upon $."0 bond sizned by Tony Brecka. to appear for trial later. The Daughters of Rebekah are planning for an enjoyable time at thfir regular meeting tomorrow evening, it being the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Whiting lodge.
