PICNIC AT AL HASSAN GROTTO GREAT
SUCCESS
Al Hassan Grotto again justified itself in the indoor pionio which was held last night at Masonic Tenipie. Kast Chicago. There were about two hundred in atucdar.ee and they came early and stayed late, apparently enjoying; every imnut rf the evtnins. Prophet Hay. with his .Tchestra furnished the music and young and old enjoyed the dancing privilege which th'j good floor provided. The stunts wore varied and something attractive was on constantly without a JiiH minute in the program. The rlsh rond. which was planned primarily for the entertainment of the children and young people, was patron143 by the adults with fully as great enjoyment as by the little tots. The nature of the catchos was nothing short . f marvelous. Prophet II. S. Evans was in his s'ory in seeing t!i;u everybody h;d a s,cod time. E. F. Gihbs and Fred Buse had charge -: the refreshments and one of the features consisted in a children's march at the close of which every child was presented with a delicious ice cream sandwich. There were weinies. buns, pop an1 ice cream for all. Lester Ottenheimer displayed his skill as an auctioneer by selling fine boxes or candy at fabulous prices. Even the officers were not forgotten. Tn recognition of the honors w.ich he had received at the hands of the pro
phets, the well known and dignified Keeper of the Sacred Roll. Prophet Shaffron. made a neat speech of appreciation and gave to each of the officers a bulky, well-wrapped present. But the circumstances were somewhat suspicious and the officers, knowing well that beneath that exterior of dignity there lurked the characteristics of an imp thoroughly trained and seasoned in the depictions and snares of the under world, felt that
perhaps bombs or some kind of infernal!
machines were concealed beneath tnos beautiful and artistic wrappers. Each officer therefore tried to slip away Quietly to the basement without unwrapping his present. But to this the crowd objected. It was soon discovered that Prophet Shaffron had made each officer a deputy in tfie performance of his sacred duty. A short business cession of the Grotto was held in the reception room on the second floor at which twelve candidates were elected to receive the mysteries of the order. Several of these will take the degrees in Chicago on Wednesday evening. April SOth.
Alkali Makes Soap Bad For Washing Hair
Twin City News Notes
Most soaps and prepared shampoos ontain too much alkali, which is very injurious, as it dries the scalp and makes the hair brittle. The best thing to use is Just plain mulsified cocoanut oil, for this is pure and entirely greaseless. It's very cheap, and beats the most expensive soaps or anything else all to pieces. You can get this at any drug store, and a fewounces will last the whole family for months. , Simply moisten the hair with water and rub it in. about a teaspoonful is all 'hat is required. It makes an abundance of rich, creamy lather, cleanses thoroughly, and rinsife out easily. The hair dries quickly and evenly, and is soft, fresh looking, bright, fluffy, wavy and easy to handle. Besides, it loosens and takes out every particle of dust, dirt and dandruff. Adv. SHRINE WEEK DE LUXE THEATRE 50 to 75 Prizes Given Away at the 2, 7 and 9 o'clock shows.
The Miriam Kebckahs are to meet tomorrow evening with an urgent call for all officers of the order to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Haglnsxi or Fir st. have as their guests the Utters father, Mr. F. Krebs, of Michigan City and his daughter Miss Mayine who he accompanied back on her visit from her home town. At S o'clock this evening Twin City Council No. 1700 Knights of Columbus will take up their new Quarters in the commodious Odd Fellows hall, Indiana Harbor. The Knights, resident at Indiana Harbor, have been attending meetings in East Chicago during the past six years and the East Chicago portion of the council now insists upon their right to ride the street cars, or per chance show off their automobiles among their brethren in the watery side of town. The Knights, who have a large membership, expect to tax the seating capacity of the big hall to Its limits. House-warming will 'be a feature of the evenig's work and all members are expected to be present and in their most pleasant mood.
