J. tv. the New York Central, the I. 51. t? and the Pennsylvania. The annoying feature of the thins: lies in the fart that th order was rescinded on lVeemb.r 30. and notwithstanding that fart no notice had been received and no one conneted with the ratiroad admlntst-ation seemed to he aware of the fact. Correspondence, wss d'reoted to the resienal director at Chicago, was referred to the regnat d'.r'ft: r at Pittsburg, then to New York. and finally to AVashir-gton, .where it fell into the hands or T. C Powell. Director of the Division of Capital nxpenditur"s. who Informed the c'ty officials
that the order had been cancelled. It Is interesting to note that all of the railroads had representatives here making surveys and Investigations and getting data that would help the administration to decide in regard to the issuance of a permit to go ahead with those street Improvements. Not only the railroad representatives, hut the administration representatives as well arc aparently lunorant of the fact that the order had been discontinued. The work has been held up fully two months in consequenco. Now the city authorities will go ahead with their original plans.
