bills. He called F.mmeit Branch. of Martinsville, a former Speaker in ihe Indiana house, to assist John Edwards, the Governor'a legal adviser, in looking over the bills. It was understood that the Governor intended to veto the Harris House B-ll :09, known as th city and county treasurer' relief bill and to refuse to receive the Mendenhall housa bill appropriating $60,000 in subsidies for private normal schools. - The Van Auken anti-German language bill was among the bills signed by thGovernor. The law removes German from those which may be required taught in high schools. Many bills relating to insurance were signd. Most of them are a part of the program which establishes a new state department of Insurance. One of the signed bills establishes a probate court in Vanderburg county; another privides for the payment of road taxes in cash instead of permitting some to work out the taxes; another provides a renaity for de'scing manufacturers" marks on automobiles or bicycles so as to prevent detection of stolen machine or wheels; another bill provides for appeals from the decisions of the state board of health. The Governor has said that he will sign the bill which provides' ..r the classification of motor truck license fees.
