Occasionally there is no one on your line when you answer your telephone. This may be due to several causes. The calling person may have realized having called the wrong number arid hung ' up without waiting for response. When the calling party hangs up, the operator gets the signal to disconnect and does so; she has no means of knowinn who called vou after the connection, has been severed. In none of these instances is the operator blameworthy and her courteous request to excuse any inconvenience caused you should be graciously granted.
