Chicago, and "William Taylor, another negro of 3423 Hearhorn street, t iivaso. were arrested last night by Officer llfsterman of the Hammond police anj an officer of the. West Hammona police in a saioon on State street, i barged with highway robbery. Carte"r and Taylor stepped up to Joe 'SalvaJo last night Just as he was abovt to enter his hom at 13 Statestreet. Hammond, and Carter drew a nvohtr and ordered Salvado to throw t-j his hands. SalvaJo did so and eaid that he had no money. Just thn pdestrians came along SJate street and Carter ordered Salvado to walk on. Salvado turned and watched the r.ien and saw them enter the saloon. He called up the Hammond police. Officer Hiesternia ft responded and wnt with & West Hammond officer w ho they found on the corner, into the saloon which is just across the rate line. There they found Carter and Taylor, who Salvado identified as the men wlio held him up. Carter and Taylor both pleaded not guilty at their trial this morning in the Hammond city court but as a reoivr was found o:i Carter and both i ien were absolutely identified by Sal-
