These prices ere based upon the present cost of high sradc materials
and shii'ed 1- bor. It is our conviction that there can be no further reduc tion in rector car prices for many months to come. As every b-usiness men hnows, labor is the clement which determines the cost of any manufactured product. It is, in final analysis,- more than 90 cf a prcduetion investment. A ton of ore in the ground is worth 75 cents. When it has bren mined, transported to the mill, converted into steel, forwarded to the mn chine shop and f-ehioned into automobile parts, it is worth $1500. And practically every penny ot the enhanced value is a labor charsre. So it: is quite evident that the cost cf labor must come down before commodity prices can be reduced. Furthermore, it must be a general reduc tion of the w ; ;c eeaie a National movement. And the process, as we fee it, :c r;oin'; to tal:e a long time. The skilled workman you must remember is no longer receiving a "war wDgef' He is vecli paid to be sure, but no man has a better right to fair comperre.tion, and he will undoubtedly continue to receive it. Where, then, can the manufacturer look for a reduction in his manufacturing costs' As we have said, the list prices of our cars have been dehmtcly fixed. . These prices represent intrinsic value the choicest of manufacturing material and hi:. h!y skil'ed workmanship. Without a saerikee cf cur own
rds it wou'd he absolutely imposnb'e to produce such cars

lor on: c:a:ar a - -. The point we want to na.be is this: XTc. could not atTbrd to build and you could not ariord to buy on any other than a quality basis. In brier, while we agree that f:rst cost i? an important consideration, we are convinced that Uki'matc cost is vastly more important. We believe that the only true test ol- economy is years of hard, gruelling service 0:1 the road. We believe that freedom from repair bills and excessive depreciation is infinitely more desirable than a mere catch-penny list price. These are our conviction?. We have held to them staunchly during many iitful periods in the motor car industry. So long as the Paige Company is a factor in the making and distributing ol motor ears we shall continue to adhere to them.
