Charles Racura. Coij Twenty-Fourth street, was arrested yesterday at the rear of Butternut street, Indiana Harbor, and charged with bringing- liquor into the state illegally. He was tried before Judgj Cohen, found guilty and given a fine of JDO and costs and thirty days in jail. I'acura had a Quantity of liauor in his automobile which it is salii ho was about to distribute to various points in Indiana Harbor. It is tho belief that is not the first trip that he has made. Lait night, the defendant who had been fined by Jud;e Cohen wai taken before Mr. Green of Hammond, chief of the local scci c service, and the assumption is that the whiskey carrier will eventually bo before Judge .'.mler-on.

Startling revelations concerning; the constant use of drugs by not less than 1.500,000 persons in the United States and suggestions for international control of the evil were made before the house submitteo on appropriations during- the executive hearings on the legislative, executive and judicial appropriations bill, it became known today, when the bill was introduced in the house. The figures were submitted by Commissioner of Internal Revenue Daniel C. Roper and were based upon a report by a committee named last April by Secretary of the Treasury McAdoo. "The uso cf nareotla 'drugs has been alarmingly on the Increase for months.' Roper told the committee. "There is an underground system, about which little Is kmmn, by which drugs aro Introduced into this country. This means th.-it we must have the co-operation of other nations to stir.-.p out their use."
