glad to hear from you. Dan. I.ast night I happened to glance over some "f the oid mail I received from you previously, and I was wondering why I was not receiving any more mail fioin you I thought that something night have happened, for I knowthat you are very prompt in answeritiK my mail or any one's else. After reading; the contents of your letter I can account for your not answering any sooner. I'an you do not know how pood it made me fee to lead your letter, especially when you are out In No Plan's Iand, still I do not .regret being here. with the toys and thank God for being amongst the living. Dan I would like to tell what I have seen and gone through but it is. too numerous to be mentioned for you know thit the censors are nowvery strict and we can never be too careful, or our mail would never (jet aros. I am still at the front line ever since a month after I arrived in France. One thing I am wondering over is fact and as true as I am alive. 5o now Ptin. T am almost positive of re-

the poor French only. It was two men in the tank that suffered the consequences. All this .happened at the time "f the hip drive. We were only a little distance unav from the tank and if ever I did say any prayers I said them then. Ucfieve me 1 sure thought it was the end of a perfect riay. . The situation here sounds very pood. Turkey has surrendered and you know nil about Bulgaria and Austria. The latest news here about Fritz is the kaiser has abdicated. We sure have them on the run end no one will doubt It. Yes. we intend to keep him on the run until he is clear off the map and only then we return that dirty bum. I. sure, would like to be in reach
of him with my 45 for it is certain that if he had us were we pot him now he sure would make all of us suffer the same fate as Belgium arifl France and we all know that quite

well. lie wanted war and he will Ht all of it for we are just beginning, for it is a fact that we just Kot interested ini it would b- a shame to leave Germany without destroying It like some of the cities I have passed which look no more than like a dump pile. The more I think of it all the more I feel the same way about it. Pan you mentioned in your letter about Fred's mother not hearing from him for some time, but this I am sure may be due to the loss of mail. It
reaches the states, but if she does not. I wouldl sliRKest that she write to the War Department. It is the best way to trace his whereabouts. Pan. if you only knew how 1 appreciated your attention to that letter. I tried my best to make it interesting. You spoke about having my picture taken. Why. In, there jg not a place of that kind here where I am. The only pictures that are taken are those Fritz quite often takes in his aeroplanes. 1 will close now. Pan. as I have
reported today that S0i0 sacks of Kven you everything of importance.
V. S. mail were sunk off the docks.
Now there's not a single doubt that his mail was on this ship. Worrying is absolutely unnecessary, as I am quite sure that he is as well as ever and I suspect she will Ret a letter from him bv the time this letter

had a slight touch of mustard gas under my arms. 1 ai not injured in any way hut the ot ganizat ion has worked out a plan whereby the "sectys" who have been up to the front are sent back to rest up. where they can sleep and in bed think of it. I am sleeping; in a real bed sheets and blankets and all
that, sitting down to a table and have
I real clean water to wash with. I left
the front ten days ago and am stationed at a seaport where our boys are sent home and where many arrive. The dampness is general in France and of course there is some sickness. I, myself, have a heavy cold but will be O. K. soon. It seems to me that the prrat war is emeriti the fir.al stanes. I hope the

over here have seen a ration in black and I feel sure they want to see somethingother than that, as the full mourning over here geta on one's nerves. It may be that this mpvement is under way if not let Whiting take the lead. These rumors that you may hear in America about some of our boys not standing; up to the fight and that the colored soldiers ran and that Marsha) Foch is going to be the King of France are all German lies. All of our boys have stood up and whipped h out of the bodies. Results show the same but the German propaganda works overtime -and the stories are going about France trying to cause friction among our troops, but the boys all know the game and just laugh. 1 met William

They were in all the big battles and have won immortal fame. He !ld about the great comfort the auxiliary orgaization gave the boys where he had been, also the story of Father Duffy who has been decorated by the government for conspicuous bravery. It seems this priest bears a charmed life, as Driscoll told of him lying on his back In a shell hole hearing confessions of both Protestant and Catholic boys who were about to go over the top and of him going about in shell fire comforting and dressing the 'wounded. I met Driscoll in Toul and what a grand day we had. All of Whiting must hear this boy's story when he comes home. He says the American boys charge over the top if indescribable and that the boche fear them. ' I saw our aeroplanes and bombers go-
