Miss Bess Hogan has resumed her work in County Treasurer M. J. Brown's office after a two weeks' tussle with the "flu." Rev. Fh. Guethoft was in Laporte on business the early part of the week. Rev. Rachor. his assistant, was unable to come to Crown Point as expected on account of illness but will be here shortly.

EAST GARY

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. "William Meiers, Jr.. on Tuesday, Novembe 26th. The people of East Gary were creatly shocked last Friday to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Lillian Rexac, wife of John Rezac. The deceased was born in Chicago April 24, 1SS6, and died at her home here, Nov. 29, 1918 at'the age of 52 years, 7 months and 5 days. Mrs. Rezac was ill but a week and death was due to pneumonia. Besides her husband she Is survived by four children, Russel. Blanche, Dorothy and John, parents and many relatives. Interment was made In Oak Hill cemetery, Hammond, on Friday afternoon.

Six members of the John Thyen family are sick with Influenza. Mrs. Brand visited with relatives in Chicago during the past few days. Mrs. Fleming, who has been visiting with a relative in the city during the past few days, returned home yesterday. Mrs. Collins and children, who have been seriously ill with influenza duringthe past week are much inmproved.
