I had the good fortune to witness a Croix De Guerre ceremonial the other day. The decoration was pinned on an American lad for bravery at St. Mlhiel and it was an impressive affair. He was a 20 year old corporal end seriously wounded. He had dug two wounded comrades out of a mess of debris under Are with his bare hands and saved their lives. Then a high explosive shell burst nesr him. Four companies were formed about hfm in a hollow square. .With the band playing to the colors ell came to salute, officers, majors, captains, lieutenants, shave-tails, as General fastened the decoration on his chest.
