Miss Louise Crawford Is experiencingquite poor health lately, having been confined to her home the past two weeks. County Clerk H. L Wheaton will entertain the members of his office forco in the Gary. Hammond and C Point offices at a dinner and theatre party In Chicago on Saturday night. The party will see "L.j.nbardi Ltd.,' at the Cort theatre. Those who wilt attend the function are Misses Frances Grimmer. Lillian Schmidt, Kessle Hoasch. employed In the Crown Point fflces and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Colder, Mrs. Cora Anderson, of the Gary office and Iloscoe Hemstock, deputy clerk at Hammond. The announcement of the marriage of Clifford Kttling and Mabel Schmal. Is indeed a great surprise to their many Crown Point friends. The eerenmny was performed by Rev. Father Weft, chaplain of the Great Lakes Naval Tmlning- Station, yesterday, where the groom is a member of the Hospital Naval Corps, having enlisted in that braanch of the service several months ago. Miss Mabel Is employed as stenographer in the offices of the Gary Land Co., at Gary, and has made a host of friends in that city. They were attended by llary Schmal, member of the Radio Corps at the Great Lakes, and Miss Ida Schmidt, of this city, who accompanied the couple from Crown Pt. on the early train Thanksgiving morning. Mrs. Ettllng will continue her work at the Gary Land Co. offices until Mr. Ettlinsr receives his honorable discharge from the service of 1'mle Sam. Leo Smeltier. eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smeltzer, was born Nov. 25, 1910, and died X. 25, 1818, after an Illness of one week from Influence, lie was visiting here with his grandmother, Mrs. A. Wehner, when he took sick. The funeral will be held Thursday, services will be conducted by Rev. Koenig, at the Turkey Creek Catholio church at 9:35, and the burial will be at the Turkey Creek cemetery. Mrs. Joseph Mellon is seriously ill with Influenza and small hopes are entertained for her recovery. The I. Whist Club which was to have met this week. Friday evening, with Mrs. P. Thompson, has been postponed until next week. Mrs. Fred Collins is quite sick with inliuenz. Thvs dance to be given here Thanksgiving Eve by the local firemen has been postponed until a future date on account of the influenza.
