Divorced from Isabelle Fenton a few days ago, Walthall lost little time in traveling to Crown Foint, Indiana, and marrying Mary Charleston, his loading woman. Hut here's tlie 1'gal purzle! The Illinois Ihw sas that one shall not marry within a jrar after one ha boffn given a divorc. Mr. Walthall has about ffty-nne we'ks yet to go. Judg H. H. I.oring of Valparaiso. Ind , in a decision handd . down a fortnight ago, held that Indiana must recognize the Illinois law. "Now. the case of Mr. Walthall?" the Judge was asked over the phone. "He eanont b married legally in Indiana." ho replied. "My decision has precedent. The Illinois supreme court has made such a decision, as also have the courts of Wisconsin." "Suppose Mr. Walthall and his er bride, go to Los Angeles, where they have been starring in films, and live: ehen will they be legally married?" he was asked. "If thy are not legall married in Indiana, the Indiana ceremony would not be legal In California. The law folows them." said Judge Loring. It is incorporated ' in the Indiana statutes that Indiana must not make void the work of any law In another state. There is no getting around it." And so it looks dark for the honey-mooners.
