HIGHLAND Many sorrowing friends attended the funeral Thursday afternoon, of Mrs. Jacob Van Proyen of Schererville who was a victim of the influenza, Mrs. Van Proyen was the daughter cf Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kikkert of this place and leaves, beside her husband and nine children, a father and mother, three sisters and one brother to mourn for her. Interment took place in the Holland cemetery at Highland. Mrs. Elmer Robinson returned to her home in Chicago Thursday evening. The schools reopened this week but some of the parents fearing the influenza, which is still prevalent, are still keeping their children at home. Little May Eastman Is reported getting along nicely after having been seriously ill with the influenza. The families of R. Vander Wall and R. Van Til are reported sick with the influenza.
