ORDER TELLS OF ARMY M
NY
BY LOWELL MELLKTT. T7nitd Press Staff Correspondent) PARIS. Oct. 9. In a series of interesting documents and army orders, which have fallen into the hands of the French army, the German hlffh command itself furnishes the most e.locjuent rf-rily to the claims of Feth-man-Hollu PR and Hert!inr that Alsace-Lorraine is Oerman to the core. These documents prove beyond a doubt that the Germans are forcing the people of Alsace-Lorraine to fight agrainst their kindred, and that AlsaceLorraine at heart in French. On of the. captured army orders reveals the fact that over 10,000 Alsatians mutinied at the Beverloo depot in Belgium In May. According to the order, the mutiny was suppressed pitilessly," and all soldiers were ordered to assist in rounding up the mutineers who were trying to make their way to Holland. In other doci monts the crown prince orders that "'ldlT. from Alsace-Lorraine must rver be employed Jn critical situations and are to be used in the front lines only when tn company with trusted troops. Purine the preparations for the eteat Marne offensive, the Germans became alarmed hy the number of desprtiona of Alsacians. General Buchhr!z isued an order that "under no pretext must they be utilized In the first line during the rresent operations" and recommends that, "severe measures" be taken in cases of "disloyalty." Toit of Hnn Order. The ordr is dated July . 1818 and leads as follows: Xth Army No. 11S2-2. 42nd Division IA 162 Secret MYT85. The Crown Prince's Group of Armies has reported tbst because of the number of desertions of the i lsacian-Lorrainians recently, they must under no pretext he utilized in the first lines during the pr.nt operations. Consequently, divisions are ordered that all soldiers from Alsace-Lorraine or others whose nrlnin does not ftive sufficient guarantee of their loyalty, should h until f jrther notice kept out of the zone o," combat. Each regiment is responsible for the loyalty of Alsace-Lor-rainians remainglng in the first line." Ruchholti orders that the men removed from the lines be sent back for as-ricultureal work and guard duty under reliable uards. He asks each battalion to import with 4 doya the num-
beer of Alsace-Lorrainiars in each revetment, the number who can be trusted in the front lines, and an opinion of the service of these men. The captured papers throw considerable light on the manpower situation of the German high command. They prove that the major number of divisions brought from the Russian front lines in the spring were secondclass divisions and divisions composed of subject peoples whose loyalty to Germany was open to doubt. Hecominenda Iron Hand. In a confidential order Issued to all officers in the early spring. Gen. Von Bonn explained that mans- of the divisions being brought from the east front for reinforcements wore composed of a large proportion of men from Alsace-lorraine, and that past "unhappy" experiences proved that they "were prone to infidelity, dsertion and treason." General Von Bohn suggests that such tendencies must "be reated with the iron hand'' but that Germany could not afford to didiminish her chances by "one hair's breadth" by dispensing with the use of these men. In his order ' II A. Xo. S4, Pers." and dated general headquarters. Star. 2. Von Bohn says: "No longer must the excuse be entertained ths.t because of the presence of parents or relatives on the French side, soldiers from Alsace-Lorraine can be withheld from the fighting lines. It must he clearly explained to them that if their parents or relatives were as scrupulous as themselves they would run no risk. However, the contrary has been proved long ago. The soldiers from Alsace-Iorraine were a part of the German Empire. We can no longer keep them away from the Western front." The order revealing the big mutiny at Beverloo reads as follows: "244 BI Nr. 2044 I-Hb Secret. In the month of May at the depot at Beverloo there was a mutiny in which 10,000 soldiers of Alsaco-Lorraine participated. The repression was pitiless. The AlsaceLorrainians have qualified as miserable traitors to the Fatherland and have used the French language and sang French songs. Post a copy of this order in every barrack room. DateJ May ISth."

Auto-En toxication EXPLAINED BT SAMUEL HAMILTON. M. D.
A French physiologist described man as a "digestive tube with arrangements for locomotion and guidance." It is commonly said that moet people "dig their gTave3 with their teeth." The disastrous effects of constipation have always been well known. It is easily understood how serious are the troubles which are caused by stagnation of decayed matter in the large intestines poison reabsorbed and taken Into the circulation this i3 called auto-intoxication. It is apparent, therefore, that the first necessity ..is
i'rfST- 'Si to cleanse the intestines tnorougniy. fei The best method for eleansiner the whole intestinal
tract and urging the liver Into activity is to take as much outdoor exercise as possible, drink hot water before meals, and take a pleasant laxative, vegetable
pill occasionally, buch a one is made up of Mayapple, leaves of aloe, root of jalap; made into a
sugar-coated pill that gives tone to the bowels. This was first made and sold by druggist nearly fiftyyears ago, as Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets.
The cost is twenty -five cents, buch simple means will prevent auto-intoxication. People are realizing that the kidneys, just as do the
bowels, need to be flushed occasionally, n The kidnevs are an eliminativp oro-nn
and are constantly working, separating
tne poisons irom me Diooa. uric acia backs up into the system, causing rheumatism, neuralgia, dropsy and many
other serious disturbances. This can be avoided by stimulating the kidneys to increased action, and because of its tonic effect on these organs I would advise any one to get An uric (double strength), which is to be had nowadays
for sixty cents, at almost any drug store, and take it three times a day. Also drink hot water before meals.
