Phone Kast Chicago 44S-M. 10-4-6 The women of Indiana Harbor are cne hundred per cent pat'.rotlc in their attendance at the Red Cross Centre the past week, over two hundred and fifty sewing from dawn to the closing of the day. The 'social calendar in that vicinity has been dotted with very few social heppenirgs; those which were given were mostly benefit affairs. The women have realized the importance of laying aside all unnecessary entertaining and we read with interest that in many cities matinees and card playing are strictly tabooed by all patriotic women during the balance of war days. The women of our community must share in the honors of giving up the very things that are dear to the heart of all women and complying with the urgent needs thrust upon them by war measure demands. Kenneth Scott has written his mother. Mrs. John R. Scott of 143th St.. a few lines to allay her fears as to his critical condition at the Great Lakes Training Station. Sick with the Spanish influenza and delerious part of the time, he was not permitted to have even his mother to come and see him. False rumors were reported here much to the mother's anxlty and the letter this morning in his own hand writing was a decided TV to lirr. lie wa3 too weak from the ravages of the disease to write much but lie asks his friends to await communications fr a few days at least.
