Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets the substitute for calomel are a milfl but sura laxative, and their effect on the liver la almost instantaneous. They are the result of Dr. Edwards' determination not to treat liver and bowel complaint3 with calomel. His efforts to banish it brought out these little olive-colored tablets. These pleasant little tablets do the good that calomel does, but have no bad after effects. They don't injure the teeth like strong liquids or calomel. They take hold of the trouble and quickly correct it. Why cure the liver at the expense of the teeth? Calomel sometimes plays havoc with the gums. So do strong liquids. It is best not to take calomel, but to let Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets take its place. Most headaches, "dullness" and that lazy feeling come from constipation and a disordered liver. Take Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets when you feel "loggy and "heavy." Note how they "clear" clouded brain and how they "perk up" the spirit. 10c and 25c a box. All druggists. FREE!

An Old Lady's Promise. Editor Times: A short letter for our soldier boys. I was reading the other day that every one should read the lst Psalm every morning at 9 o'clock for our soldiers. It Is a beautiful psalm. In the seventh verse "A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee." But he tells why in the ninth verse "Because thou hast made the Lord, which Is thy refugV. even the Most high, thy habitation." Also in the fourteenth verse. "Because he has set His love upon us, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known My name.'" We have got to love and serve God In order -to have His protecting care. Are not His promises worth our while? If there are any soldier boys without father, mother, or home ties. If he will write to me. I will answer. I am an old lady. In the Civil War I lost many a dear one. I have not many in this one. My heart goes out in love to all the dear soldier boys. GRANDMA SWAN. 45? Logan St.. Hammond. TWO ROADS MILEAGE, TIE GUT
WORLD SALDTES POLISH LEGION
(By Walter Lopatka, East Chicago.) A division of fifty thousand roles, recruited from the United States, from Canada and from South Americc, but drilled and armed by tha allies, has now taken its place in the fighting line under the colors of their race. This is & most interesting and sentimental event. It is the first time since the treacherous destruction of Poland by Austria, Germany and r.ussia that the Polish flag has flown over Polish soldiers. The unfurling of that flag over the Tolish legion, summoned by the call of their blood from all parts of the world, where they had been living under different flags, is the pledge of the forces of democracy to an independnt Poland. No people deserve better their resurrection as a nation than the Poles. No people deserve more at tho hands of Christian civllizatioh than the Poles. It was the Polish army that saved Eu If the Gopher Juniors. East Chicago's only representative on the gridiron, can keep up the fast pace they have set the eleven will be worthy successors to the Gophers who in eight years on the football field sustained but two losses. The. Twin City youngsters showed a wealth of class Sunday in taking a well played game from the Standard A. C.'s of Hammond. The score was SO to 0 and every minute of the contest was full of thrills. The Gophers exhibited a wonderful defense, the Standards making but three first downs in the entire game. While the East Chicagoans were a little rough on the offense they give promise of developing a wonderful attack. Larson, East Chicago's fullback, covered himself with glory Sunday, tearing through the opposing line for nice gains time and again. He was credited with three touchdown. DeWolf and Long each counted once. It was the Gophers' second game and victory of the season. GARY MINISTER PASSES AWAY Rev. Walter P. A hot bite, some good coffee and a real smoke, stood out in the memory of an American dough boy at ChateauThierry above the days of bitter fight ing. "I was flabbergasted I guess, on account of the Hun Machine-gun bullets' he said, "and I was a wee bit excited when I tumbled into a pit on top of two German snipers. I was faint with hunger and thirst and was wondering how long it would be before I could find the 'making' of a smoke, when what should come along but a Knight of Columbus truck with hot chocolate, coffee and best of all. a cigarette." rope from Mohammedan Turks. Marching in response to the wild cry of Austria for help, under the very walls of the Austrian capital, they defeated and hurled back the Mohammedans, saving Europe and Christianity from being overrun as the Far East had been overrun by the followers of Mohamed. Within a hundred years the very nations most threatened by the Turkish invasion Prussia, Russia and Austria foully assassinated and dismembered their Tolish savior. It was one of the e'rocious crimes of history. To re-establish Tolish independence wiil be among the first fruits of a democratic victory. Appreciative Women. How often is the question asked. "Are the testimonial letters published in the advertisements of Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound genuine and true?" In answer to that question wewant to answer most emphatically yes; and it is gladness for health restored by the use, of Lydia E. Plnkham's Vegetable Compound after weeks, months and sometimes years of suffering that has prompted these women to write such letters in order that other women who suffer as they once did may profit by their experience.
