Dr. Harry E. Barnard, federal food administrator, acting upon the request received in a special bulletin just received from Washington, has asked every county food administrator and assistant in the conservation campaign to conserve these pits. Householders, hotels and other consumers are bcins looked after by the American Red Cross Society through its local chapters, and the food administration through its state, county, city and township organizations are urged to got behind the effort. Commercial canners and packers have been solicited by the food administration to save and dry the following pits: reach stones or seeds, apricot pits, prune Tits, plum pits, olive pits, date seeds and cherry pits. This collection is in addition to the campaign for r.ut shells, which also are wanted for the manufacture of gas masks.
