Second of Game Series With Gary Will See Two Star Hurtlers in Action in Hammond.
Jim Rj-nolds -will pitch his last gram for Hammond on next Sunday, he has been called Into the service and leaves for Camp Grant Immediately after the im on Sunday evening. This beinjar Jim's final appearancs he o-ill exert every possible effort to defeat Gary in the second game for th series which la to decide the championship. Hammond hsvirr beaten Gary last Sun
day in a close scrap, need only to win one more same to settle the bnsehall supremacy of the northern part of ths state. The Steel City lads, however, beins encouraged by the showing they made on last Sunday when they forced the local team to extend Itself to the very limit, feel confident that, with Buckeye their bis southpaw pitcher in the best of trim for next Sunday's contest, they will be returned the winners, thereby evening up the aeries at one gamo apiece. To make urs of victory Gary will strengthen thrir lineup with the addition of Kir.ally. their regular second sacker. who is to replace the player that lost the game while operating at the keystone bajr last Sunday. Also it will not be surprising to see a new man or two In one or more of the outfield positions as rumors are afloat in Cary that the Steel City crowd are coming oxerloaded for bear. On leaving tha Clubhouse last Sunday Buckeye remarked that if he didn't win
the next game ha wouldn't ask a cent for his services and the way he sa;d it J sounded like he meant business j Reynolds on the other hand is de'.ermin- !
ed to wind up his already successful season with another victory and thereby cinch the title for the local team Yon can safely gamble that Jim will pitch as hard as he knows how In this
his final game and as Buckeye also! seems bent on winning it looks pretty j much like the fans will be treated to j best pitchers' batr'e of the season. With good weather In sight a big
crowd is expected out to witness next

Sunday's game as any nurabw of local fans who missed last Sunday's scrap have expressed their eagerness to see Buckeye the much talked-of lft handed pitcher who recently left the Washington American league team to take, up a government position In the Gary steel mills, in action. Also 05 this will b the last opportunity to see Reynolds in a local uniform it Is thought that quite a number of his followers will turn out to give him a final send-off. Another week or so may see Jim pitching for the crack soldier nine at Camp Grant. v.-ho now havs the btst sor tee team In the middle west.
