tlcers' traimtiff school "over there" and we or some of us are likely to be roootu- j mended for it. Of course. I am bard at ' work and am out to "cop the bacon." I am hoping so, anyway, as this is probably the only opportunity we will get. I
At the start of our trip, on the nir
afternoons, they had boxing bouts
well as wrestling matches, and
me, the ones that 1 use to cover for tinpaper were tame affairs besides these I know "Pop" dabby would enjoy a front seat, as well as Maurice riiampalpn and some cf the other old rin;Fiders. Ha. I had my press ticket scat on a mast arm. We elao have a band and we hear all the ' IV pillar" airs. As night settles down and lights out and no Flunking is sounded, the men are ordered below. Some are ready for bid while others proup around the pianos. You maybe imagine that tdiouting' group in the mess hall and believe me Indiana" is the most popular and ptmsr more than any of the songs. Quite a
practice on j number of the Purdue boys are su;l wit at thos ! Intact, you know.
The Y. M. O. A. also does r.-at work on board ship as well as on land. Til" set retai-y takes care of r.il our need.--and there is certainly nothing left undone. He arranges for our entertainment, has charge of a fine library, a class in T"rench (which I am al taking up), navigation, mathematics and other studies. Surelv he is doin ids bit end earns every penny be (jets. He maHes the trip back and forth on the beat. Thought this would interest you.
i as 1 remember you telllns me m your ! letter about the idea you had. I Tiiere are scores of Interesting things
I could write you. but all our mail is
strictly censored and I am not permitted. So you see you will have tc viait for them until eome future date, when I will be able to have a lone cl i with vou. There are quite n number of I.aki county boys with whom I am aoo,ua:nfed on board our transport. From Hammond there are Pave Posner, who used to be in the real estate business, office;in Rimbach buildir.p. He turned over his affairs to E. E. Heck. He and I are bunk mates. Dick Millikan. who used to work for Michigan Central. Georpe Mauch. and also a sailor, H. C. AYattrs. formerly of Hammond. I ran across him on board the first nigtit before we sailed. From East Chicago there is "Chalk" McMahon; Crown Foint, 'William Glover; Lowell, Purchase; Gar v. the Greenburger boys. Kenneth O'Prien. Frelner and Harry Williams, formerly of Crown Foint. Jerry Plum and Edrln Fitzgerald sailed several days before us. Also Carl Dennowitz. Gary Trib reporter. Kind of nice for all to be on the same boat. Expect I will run across lots of the boys with whom I am acquainted over the country "over there. Am poing to keep rny eves open for some of them at any rate.

Final f.grures on the war gardens have not been compelled yet. but sufficient data Is on hand to show that the vnlue of their crop exceeded that of 1317 by several hundred thousand dollars. Final figures will not be available until the entire crop is harvested; however, here is no doubt but that the number of gardens this year is at least 15 per cent above those of a year ago. Frost destroyed many gardens in Northern Indiana, but late crops were planted and indications are they will turn out well. In Indianapolis alone there were 60,000 war gardens. The number in other cltios of the state is in proportion, fities such as Terre Haute, where special garden
planting campaigns were conducted. ! show the largest production. This was declared due to the fact that
gardeners were better instructed in how to plant, control Insects and disease and otherwise care for the plants. N'ot a small portion of th garden truck produced in tho state th!s year was srown on farms operated in connection with stUe institution.-!. Taking the 1.500 acres at the State

When you use medicated sprays, atomizers and douches .for your Catarrh, you may succeed in unstopping the choked-up air passage3 for the time being; but this annoying condition returns, and you have to do the same thing1 over and over again. Catarrh has never yet been cured by these local applications. Have you ever experienced any real benefit from such treatment?
Throw these makeshift remedies to
the winds, and get cn the right treatment. Go to your drug store to-day, Ket a bottle of S. S. S., and commence a treatment that has been praised by sufferers for nearly half a century. S. S. S. gets right at the source of Catarrh, and forces from the blood the germs vhieh cause the cisease.
