BECAUSE the Highland Scot, wading through th5 xvet weather of the mountains, found Kilts kept drier. Before the Roman soldier, himself a Kiltie, came, Lowland and Highland folk wore Kilts. 'When modern life turned the Lowlands to trousers, the wet mountain heather held the Highlands to Kilts. But his wet weather, had GOODRICH been founded, wouldn't have worried the Highlander.

Goodrich would have met his needs with Hipress boots and waterproof garments, just as Goodrich met the need of the automobile for the right rubber tire. Twenty-two years Goodrich has shaped the destiny of automobile tires, bringing them from crude, clumsy affairs.to the graceful GOODRICH SERVICE VALUE tires. And all Goodrich inventions were' directed toward one end, SERVICE VALUE to the user. . For Goodrich recognizes but one tire value; what a tire is worth to the motorist on his car and on the road, in comfort, economy,. and long mileage. COLORED STIRS ftT EAST CHICAGO

By IX. T. 3C. Est Chicago baseball fans are keenly Interested In tomorrow's (Sunday) tilt between the Chicago Union Giants and tha fast stepping: Twin City aggregation. The invasion of the Giants will mark their first appearance at East Chicago in five years and this coupled with the fact that the Hammond team was obliged to extend themselves to gain a 4 to 3 decision over Peters' colored tossers. last Sunday, should insure ft record breaking attendance. Peters is not underestimating the bility of Manager Jones' team and will send his strongest lineup against the Hoosier boys. Captain Bloom will send Morgan to the mound with Eddie Barnes doing the receiving. Kchwenke, who leads the club in slugging, will be at the initial sack. Thomas at second. Bloom at third, and "Babe" Simon at short. Foster, Davis end Babin will patrol the outfield. Weaver and Totts are on the reserve list. a. word about Big Bill Morgan. East Chicago's pitcher. For the last five games Morgan worked he struck out 64 men for an average of close to thirteen per contest. For these five games he was touched for just 28 hits. If East Chicago trims the Giants they will immediately challenge the Hammond outfit. Manager Jones is confident that neither De Lave nor the much talked of Reynolds, who is back in the Hammond fold, can hold his sluggers down. Tomorrow's contest will be played at the East Chicago park and will start promptly at 3 p. m.

Secretary Baker's ruling means that the world's eeries th'.3 year will have to be played before Sept. 1. This will bring about a shortening of the playing season and also give the "dopesters" for the first time in their lives a chance to pick a pennant winner in July. Gives Game a Boost. In the American league the Boston Red Sox hold a commanding lead and in the Xatlon.il organization the Chicago Cubs are on top. If both clubs keep up their present pace it looks as though they will meet in the annual classic. Secretary Baker in his decision took a kindly view of the sport and tossed more than one boujuc-t at it. He expressed the hopo "that so wholesome a recreation as baseball would not be destroyed." Aside from this, however, baseball owes its perpetuation until "September morn" to the fact that the men engaged in it who fire, of draft age constitute such a relatively small number and also because It was deemed unfair to kill instantly a sport in which so much money was invested.

All of the six drivers who will race in the International Sweepstakes at Speedway Park tomorrow afternoon were out on the track early yesterday and got their machines tuned up before driven into the garages by the showers in the afternoon. All of th"m are ready and none will hnvp any excuse if defeated. Dario Resta was the sensation of the day. getting to the track while the other drivers were etill asleep. and clipping off a lap In 1 minute and 2 seconds, a speed equal to 116 miles an hour. De Palma Just breezed around the track for a few laps yesterday and devoted the rest of the time to going over every part of his motor. It now looks as though c"-veral records would be lowered tomorrow. In fact, there is not a record for either ten. twenty.thirty. fifty or 20 miles in competition which cannot be shattered by any one of the fix cars which will start. This was shown yesterday by trial spins.

It is, rather, that this car more ably meets his wishes and his needs than any other, and better serves him at a lower upkeep cost. Although built on an extraordinarily strong and serviceable chassis it carries no unnecessary weight, and its high-powered engine is free from handicap of any sort.

Its sightly and comfortable body is swung on long springs over a generous wheelbase-on the roughest roads the car travels with sureness and ease.

The high-speed overhead-valve engine of the Oakland ' Sensible Six is simple and efficient ; at 2600 r.p.m. it delivers 44 horsepower, or one horsepower to every 52 pounds. It is quick, capable and positive in action; under all conditions it is exceedingly sparing of fuel.

The body, of the car is handsome in line and proportion; it is carefully made, very roomy and exceptionally comfortable. Concentration of the entire Oakland manufacturing forces upon one chassis as the foundation for several body models has resulted in a valve not equaled in the present car market. Owners of the Oakland Sensible Six throughout the country enjoy uniformly high mileages from fuel and tires.
