By H. C HAMILTON Unltd Irea StaJf Correspondent.) NEW TORK, July 8. Affairs In the major iairu are shaping themselves quit Jjotatedly toward a shift next winter perhap during the coming fall that nhould effectively ft to oft trouble for tfc majors another rear and maybe until the xrar ends. Serious minded students of liaseba.11 J- certain that the wsr has begun to make itslf greatly felt In baseball, not In the matter of attendance, but In the matter of ball players. So many hieh class performers have been called to help hammer the. Hun that there Is a dearth f rood playing material In some spots. Clubs which figured to stay In tlx peanant raco tho whola season through fcavft found it almost Impossible to keep a fighting array on the pay roll. In tha first place, It !s becoming practically impossible to travel -with any assurance of aocommodatlons which a?-h-
letes In training should have. Hence, long Jumps may b cut out. The fact that the railroad administration 1? frowr.lnar on travel will have nn effect here als . The two major leagues, then, may be expected to drop somo of the cities now forming their circuits, organizing perhaps Just one league or else arranging things so that one bis league will he situated with all its cities in the West and the other with all its cities in the East. An automobile circuit could be operated successfully, with clubs In Boston. Xew York. P-rooklyn. Philadelphia. "Washington, Baltimore, Toronto and Providence 1? the Xew International league would surrender territory. The Jump to Toronto would have to be made by rail. A similar circuit would be arranged to embrace Pittsburg, Cincinnati, Cleveland, i Detroit, Chicago. St. Louis, Kansas City and Indianapolis, iltnnen polls. Milwaukee, or Toledo.

By II. C. HAMILTON' L'r.lted Press Staff Correspondent! XEW YORK. July 6 Babe Ruth made a remark a few days ago that may bring him more glory than anything else he ever attempted provided of course, that this slugging demon of a Red Sox is man enough to put il across. Babe wants to make a home run in every park in the American league. So far he has accomplished the feat In five bailiwicks, not including Fenway park, where It is practically certain that he will boost one across before the end of the season. Chicago and Philadelphia are the other cities which, so far. this year, have not been peimitted to gaze on a circuit smash delivered by the powerful younfc- star in 191S. Of the two Chicago offers the lonsrest shot. Philadelphia should he comparatively easy. Chicago lias a right field wall and bleachers which should have field glasses supplied aionp with its tickets, for it is a long, long way from there to the hom plate. The Philadelphia Park was where Frank Baker first rose to fame as a manufacturer of round trip baseball tickets, and If Frank could dump them out of that ball park there is no reason why Babe Ruth will not succeed. Fenwy park is another of the bandbox affairs when referring to its right field barrier.
i So far Ruth has hammered circuit : bangs In Cleveland, Detroit. St Louis,
New York, and Washington. Three of these are long, hard efforts. The others are easy. The Cleveland Park, for instance. Is protected tn right field by a wall forty-five feet high. The Detroit right field bleachers are a long way off. and the Washington right field fence Is practically immune from home runs.
