The Crystal A. C. retained their winn:ng streak by bumping the C.ary Eagles, g-S. Danny Meers celebrated h:s eleventh consecutive win by allowing; only six hits and fanning seventeen. Heavy hitting and brilliant fielding attended this combat. J. Morris celebrated by clouting two homers, a triple. and a double out of five trirs to the plite. Hudson's spectacular one hand catch in left field featured. The Eacles started off with a rush in i he second by pushing three runs acro? the plate. The Crystal's tied the score in the next two frames, and by consistent playing kept riprht on going. not stopping until the game was cinched V.'ith none down in the seventh, and three on. the Crystal A. C. pulled off a triple play killing whatever chances the Eagle's had oS scoring. .1. Morris opened the ninth -with a home run. which as folioned ith doubles by Hh; infra ha I and l.undgren. I.iiiidgren then ftole third ar.d home. Manager Newman has sc-eured the services of H. Kroupa who will take care of the receiving end. Next Sunday the Crystal's will play the Columbia A. BURLINGTON. IA.. July 6. Alva Ford of Good Hope. Ill . was killed Thursday at Carthage. Ill, when a steering rod en his car broke on the sixtieth lap of the ion tmle automobile race. He was thrown against a telephone p.Ie and h'.- nei k was broken. Ford? wife and 1 ear old daughter witnessed the accident. He was 34 years old. The race was concluded, other entrants not beinK apprised cf the fatality. A driver named Brown of Keokuk won the rare.

Nate Lewis and Charlie White pot in yesterday from Des Moines. where White fought Harvey Thorre Thursday. The referee. Mike Barton, said Whita won. So did Mike Gibbons, who decided several bets. DEATH TAKES JOHN MILOT DETROIT. MICH.. July . John MHot. well known several years ago as a dirt track automobile racer and more recently as a pilot in speed boat races, died here westerday. In 1916 he piloted Miss Detroit I over the Detroit river course, winning the event.
