Thera will be mailed this week to every club in Indiana an urgent reQuest that attention b Riven at once to the Bone-dry legislation in Congress. Th" general Federation of clubs has ftone on record for lais as a AVar measure. Mrs. John E. Moore, the state president, requests that every club send three fnessages, one to your representative and one to each of the United States senators from Indiana. There Is a fine prospect for getting this through if quick work Is done by all who favor this as a war work. This is one service you can render for winning the war. Mrs. Moore further requests that as Americanization Is the major work before the clubs this year that time be given to this subject on every club program. Until foreigners are reasonably familiar with our language they cannot become femtliar with American fundamentals. Since they came to America to better their condition It Is our duty to teach them our languages as the first and most Important step in their progress. The Woman's Franchise League of Indiana wishes to call attention to the Suffrage School at Merom in Sullivan county June 25-29. This is a delightful spot on the Wabash river. Why not take your vacation at the Suffrage School? You will not only learn things about Suffrage, but you can giv the children an outing and enjoy the bathing facilities. Even If you do not care to become a suffrage speaker, or take a salaried position, you can learn in other ways. In a letter from one of the soldiers from Frankfort who Is now in Calgary. Canada, he said that in the Red Cross
shop there, not less than fifty women
work every day and ten do cutting all niarht. Have the women of Indiana reached this stage of enthusiasm? Calgary is not a large city. It is much Ike our nvpras" county seats, but there are returned soldiers there with legs gone, and noses gone, and blind eyes. There are women there whose sons are gone never to return. Mrs. Blanche Foster Coruff is spending the summer in Detroit. Her address !S Hamilton avenue. The Woman's Study Club of Crown Tolnt. on Monday evening of this week entertained the town with an old fashioned "skule" and "Family Album." The proceeds will help pay for the L!brety Bond and part of the fund will go to. the Red Cross. The College Club of Gary instead of having their annual dinner for their last meeting met at the Red Cross Sewing Rooms and devoted the entire evening to work on hospital garments. The cost of the dinner was donated to Margaret Deland fund for soldiers in Franre. There was a large attendance and a number of garments were made. At this meeting it was derided to join the National Federation of College Women. There will be no more meetings until October. The Research club of Greentown held their final meeting of the year at the beatitiful country home of Mrs. S. McQulston. There was a program of Riley readings by the minister of the Disciples church and musical numbers by Miss Dorothy Seeger. The latest county federation meeting was held at Goodiand in Newton county. Miss Frances Ott presided Mrs. Gibhs. the district chairman, and Mrs. Hortertse Ta,pp Monre nf Rockville
were the principal speakers.
