The Ladies' Aid Society of the First Methodit church was entertained by the sixth division yesterday afternoon in the parlors of the church in Russell street. A program was Klven following the business meeting and at the close tea and wafers were served. The program wns Klven by Marjorie Downing. Padie, Marcus, Giles 'Warner, jr., and Minnie Seidlrr, ail of whom gave readings. Interesting to a larjre circle of friends is the announcement of the marriaso of Miss Hazel Mori.irty to James pi. Fender which took place yesterday afternoon in Chicago. They wer accompanied to Chicago by Mr. and Mrs. William Ross who attended the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Fender U-f; immediately for Virginia to be gone two weeks and on their return to Hammond they will be at heme at 236 N. Hohman street. Harry Blankenburg has gone to Indianapolis as a de'egate to the convention of the Public Savings Insurance Company. He will be away from Hammond for three or four days. Charles Arkin. the State street jeweler, left Tuesday for New York City to purchase merchandise for the spring and summer. He will also go to Newport to visit his son. Leo. who is stationed at Fort Adams. His trip will cover two week. Miss Gertrude Sheerer of Warren street, who was caiied home on account of the death of her mother, has returned to Rockford College at Rockford. 111., where she is a student. Miss Marjorie Putcr of Wabash. Ind., is the guest of her sister. Miss Elizabeth Webber of Mason street, for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. James Dye have returned from Camp Sherman. Chillicothe. C. after a few days' visit with their son. Sergeant John F. Dye. who has been stationed there since last September. Mrs. B. W. Chid'aw of Rimbach avenue left for a three weeks' visit today with her parents in Lawrenoeb arg. Indiana. En route she wili stop in Indianapolis for a few days.
