Catarrhal Deafness May Be Overcome
That northern La k e count y is soon to see long lines of government tracks lass through its- territory was in evidence in East Chicago last Saturday v hen thirty big Packard trucks, loaded almost entirely with Red Crops supplies, came south on Forsyth avenue, traversed Chicago avenue- to Kennedy avenue and then turned south. It Is understood that they made a short stop in Crown Point. These trucks were started from Akron, Ohio, went to Toledo. Ohio, thence to Detroit and then on west. They went into Chicago via The Dixie highway but came out through East Chicago. Their destination was unknown. This matter came bef ore the County Council of Defence at Crown Point yesterday and the information was given that there was only one piece of bad road over which such trucks would have to pass in making this- journey through the county and that was a short stretch of the Indianapolis boulevard, through Whitins. As a result of this information, the council passed a resolution calling the attention of WJiitins city authorities to this deplorable bit of roa 1 and suggesting that any plans for i s improvement be hastened. wUh ail possible speed. It is understood that Whiting has had plans for this improvement for some time but that difficulty has been experienced In making the necessary preliminary arrangements with one of the railroad corporations that would be subject to special assessment.
