Mr. Grubb. Fellow Students and Mem
bers of the Faculty: The occasion which has brought us together today is the most important in our school history. It is most important because it celebrates the result of the education received here in these schools. AH other occasions are to celebrate some one thing or other which is being don" in the precess of our education. Today's ceremonies celebrate the worth of our education, the effect it has had upon the lives, thoughts and voluntary acts of our boys, our young men. The American youth has not been brought up to obey discipline as the European youth has. and yet when little less than a year ago the great war cloud of Europe burst over America, American youth, self-disciplined, rose as one body to offer their services to their country. American youth. American ideals as represented in American manhood were not found wanting.
I It Is a matter of lilstorv that this
young army of brave volunteers is the finest, cleanest army that has ever gathered. Our men who have seen these boys in action, in the training camps and in France are Inordinately proud of them, our women who stay at home are glorified in them.
