WILL THE POLICE GET BUSY OR NOT?

There is one solution to traffic paralysis in Hammond and that is for people to clean off their walks immediately and if they do not let the police make arrests and make them immediately. There is an ordinance providing for this but it is ignored both by police and householders. There are property owners on Hammond's main artery Hohman street who never have cleared snow off their walks and they include some of the prominent business men of Hammond. They never will unless the police arrest them. If the new administration wants to make a hit let it arrest these snow slackers! There ought to be a general movement too to clear the streets and every loyal Hammond man ought to be ready to help. It is a public duty. More snow is due to fall tonight. Let's show the world the people of Hammond have a municipal pride and spirit. Suppose fire breaks out. How is the fire department to get out unless the " streets are cleared? ' DEATH OF MRS. SARAH T.
