There has been a rush of marriage licenses at the county clerk's orfice this week, thirty-five licenses being issued the day before Christmas. Mayor Krost called a special session of the city council Monday night and passed a resolution remonstrating against the Bezor ditch assessment, amounting to J30.000 against Crown Point. The city attorney was ordered to file the remonstrance. All the members of the council were present and voted against the assessment.

Postmaster William Kostbade received a telegram on Christmas Pay from the T'.,,S. government notifying hn of the 'death of his son Edward who has been serving in the artillery and has been in France for the past six months. Death was caused from an explosion. Mr. Kostbade is the third eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kostbade of this place. Ho was 20 years of age. Ills brother is also in the service.
