Mohawks and Tornadoes Play 10 to 10 Draw; Evanston and Racine Cardinals Fail to Score.

Two tie fames, replete with thrills from start to finish, were served up to 8.000 fans In the semi-final round of the Chicago Football League at Dexter Park pavllllon yesterday. The Mohawks and Tornadoes finished their fame with ten points apiece, while Evanston and Racine Cardinals held each other to a standstill, neither being able to score. Paddy Driscoll. the Hammond star, performed with the Evanston squad and for the second time this season played almost an entire half while "out on Ms feet" He struck hla head against the wall early In the game, and when the half was over could not recall a play he had made. He came back for the final quarter, however, and furnished cne big thrill when he attempted a sixty-yard drop kick In the last second ef play. The ball missed by only a few Inches. The low ceillnr Interfered somewhat with the footwork and both teams missed all their kicking attempts. The F.aclne Cardinals furnished the big surprise by the way In which they stopped up the Evanstons. Both teams were strong on the defensive, but neither could gain consistently. Only once did each team have a chance to score, and both times line drives were topped.

The SPTGLASS wishes Its readera very happy and cheerful Christmas. As the barbershops have it: It was the night before Christmas, And all through the house, Not a creature was stirring Not even a louse.

For nine innings Cincinnati did not get a hit. but neither did Chicago, but Jim allowed a pair of hits in the tenth and Toney breezed through witfi a 1 to 0. victory.

Henry Ford believes that America should at once get busy and build automobile roads. Mr. Ford says: "To supplement our railroad system w should build concrete roads that will last 400 years, with low upkeep charges. In this country 80 per cent.' of the road hauling Is done on 20 per cent, of thW roads were rebuilt in concrete trucks and automobiles will thru take over rtjuch of the short haul business within a short time and bring land and city nearer together. r By a. C. HAMILTON j (XT sited Press Staff Correspondent.) j NEW TOKK. Dec. "4. If army camrs in the east and south are going In

strone for athletics there isn't a word strong enough to express what Camp Lewis, at American Lake, "Wash., is doing. Aside from having; one of the best boxing Instructors obtainable, a basketball coach of more than ordinary standing In the athletic world, Capt. T. G. Cook, who directs sports at this camp, claims Camp Lewis has the finest athletic field In the northwest and that

is for track and kindred sports alone. 1

Tho camp boasts twelve football fields, fUtodi with goalposts and seating accommodations. Six athletic fields 4iave been laid off. In addition sixteen baseball diamonds have been constructed. There Is a T. M. C. A. auditorium which contains four basketball courts and which has a seating capacity or 3.000. The athletic field has a quarter-mile track and a 220-yard straightaway track with frn lanes, Secal other fields are to be constructed in the spring. Twc'he regimental football teams went through the season, six games being played every "Wednesday and Sunday. A regimental fund supplies the money necessary to equip the teams. Baseball Is still being played In this northwestern camp, or It was until a few weeks "ago. Every unit has Its baseball team- A number of minor and major league players are included in the cantonment, with hundreds of former high school and college players. Willie Ritchie, former world's lightweight champion, is the boxing instructor, and he is following out the plan found to be so successful in other camps the lining up of a small squad of potential Instructors, , and giving them the fine point3 of the art to Impart to their men.
