Ira Land- J rith, national party chairman, made j the principal address. J The state central committees of sev- s eral organizations met independently j and decided to call conventions of their parties on April 2 and 3, at which time it is expected that the. question of amalgamation wilh the national party will be discussd. Following these meetings of the state committees, the leaders in conferenea adopted a resolution favoring such amalgamation. This seems to indicate clearly what will be done in April. Along the lines of this movement, Mr. Roe. who is editor and manager of the Progressive Digest, will change the name of his monthly paper to the Nationalist. It is said that already several papers of the state have expressed their determination to support the newparty. WHITING MEN LEAVE FOR WAR (Special to The Times.) WHITING, Ind., Dec. 5. J. .Willi Vlie HJU.'HHI '"J I 11 'PI.IIIJ Two unusual musical offerings which will find instant response from the small folks, are found in Columbia's ftpeaal Christmas list for children. "Santa Clans Patrol' is descriptive of Christmas eve. Santa Cinvis is heard epproachinc, the He'Ls of his stwd jingling merrily. Then comes bts vigorous "Whoa! ' ss hp piies out of his sleigh and down tho rhimniy. The Tin trumpet, squswkine doll, dram, accordion and Cockoo arc hoard as he FttitTs the t.ovs in the stof kmc? then the sleich Bella die away, es he dsvhes oft to the next house. "Christmas Fiolic" has the sounds of the awikcnmg household, the joy of the children with their toys', the interruption which comes when "breakfast's ready!"' Both sre played by Prince's Band. Another special Christmas number! presents two or the most re.utiu soncs associated ws-h thi fetivsl. One of "The Star of Bethlehem. T.ii song by Henry Burr, and the other Gounod's "Nazar.nh." in Thich the even and resonant tones of Andrea Sarto are heard to excellent advantage. Still another desirable Yu'etkle offering of Columbia is a double medley of Christmas carols, sunsr bv o'lartette, and num bering nine in all of these quaint and: tuneful old melodies. . A notable Columbia selection, just announced, is Straceiari's singing of "Eri Tu" from Verdi's "Bullo m Mascbers." The power and virility of his attack, in the dynamic opening strains, are admirably offset by the masterly voicing of hts woe and sufiering. in the later passages, when sympathy for the woman who has wronged him almost conquers his resolve for revenge. The splendid robustness of the Italian baritone's voice was never displayed to better advantage than in this famous aria, in which hts tones rise clear and strong, above even those passages of the accompaniment which are almost barbaric m their clamor.
