IXDi-VNAPOLIS. Ind.. Nov. 27. Govrnor Goodrich Is about ready to make two, and possibly three, important appointments. He is back at his desk, ioJingr fine and looking better than Mr before in his life, and h is ready '''r the' strenuous work of his job. Cue jf the appointments to be made - rjiat of judge of the uprem court t.. SU the vacancy caused by the death (; Judee Richard K. Erwin of Fort ne. Another is the vacancy on ti. rublic service commission, caused : the d?ath of W. J. Wood, formerly .f Kvansville. The third appointment, f x finally develops, will be that of man for adjutant general. Howard T. Townsend of Fort "Wayne i nd U. Leih of Huntington appear I.-: be the only two mn seriously coni, iered. at this tirr.e for Judge of the supreme court. It sterns likely that r ,ne of these men will land the placa. 1, t nobody, unless it be the governor rr.-elf. knows what one will get It.
"."oivnsend has a loyal bunch of rooters
hr.d supportfrs who are leaving nothnsr undone to land the place for him. It is pointed out that Townsend is a toed lawyer and that he possesses the !, nd of qualifications that make a good .M,d?e. Besides, there is some talk to 'he effect that Fort "Wayne is entitled r. !omething more than mere thanks, because of the manner tn which It t ;rnd cut at the recent city election, v. Hoped the Pemocrats and elected iv F.epublican city ticket. l.esh is at present the deputy attorney general, and a &ood many persons vrive that he has the inside track ror the appointment as Judge of the supreme court. Lesh was a nomine n the ticket for judse of the appellate court tn 1914, and was one of tha :nf-n who helped to hold the Republican party together at the time when t loo.d like disaster wa not more t'nan three feet away. This is regarded as siving him a right to ext.p' t that he will be yiven recognition vl.cn the urovernor selects a man for supreme court judge. Bsides. he is p learned lawyer antf is of a decidedly ! .dicial t'irn of mind, which would r lake him. his friends say, a good ii. an for a place on the high ceurt bench. There has been some talk of Panl Hsynes of Anderson for appointment s a member of the public service nmmisston. Tie was secretary of the Progressive state committee in 1914. This fall he was city chairman at r.derson. and came near to electing li e Republican candidate for mayor. It is said, however, that the eppoint;,,,nt of any Anderson man on the f ..mmlssion might be regarded as being a little out of place. It Is said that Charles S. Norton, an Indianapolis telephone man, could be Induced to take an appointment on the earnn isslon. In fact, there are a lot of men in the state who would be pleased o eecept the appointment at $.POQ a ear and a four-year Job. There is no vacancy in the office of tf:e adjutant general, but it is possible that there may be a vacancy soon. Governor Goodrich has recommended to the war department that Harry B. Smith, the present adjutant general, he appointed a brigadier general tn the army in command of the Indiana National Guard brigade which ( at -Camp Phelby, at Hattieshurg, Miss. Tt is believed that the appointti rit will h made, and that will leave tv office of adjutant areneral vacant. Cot. Kmmett F. Branch of Martinsville id Jesse Eschhach of Warsaw, state crscrfption agent, are mentioned for this appointment

Knowledge is of value to you only as you profit by it. Admiration of another's success butters no parsnips for you. You know that many Oklahoma oil producers are becoming millionaires with persistent regularity. You have admired their success. You have regretted that YOU were not wise enough to invest in some of these companies when you had the chance to get in on the ground floor. Possibly you have said that if another chance to get in at the
start with such a company as have made these men rich came your way you would not let it slip through your fingers. The opportunity is knocking at your door right bow. If you could be shown that right here is the opportunity to make an investment as good or better than any of those you have allowed to get away from you, to make others rich, would you not be foresighted enough, this time, to capitalize this opportunity by a quick decision for investment? .
