FORT WITHE PROTESTS ST L09KUP
A protest from Manager Fisherins of the Fort Wayne Friars against "loading up" was today answered by Manager Paul. Parduhn of the Hammond club with the statement that he is merely enlarging his squad in Tder to play three games in on week. It cannot h reasonably expected of v Hub of eighteen men to play three hard gams in & week, and Parduhn is increasing thw number of men to twenty-five. And anyway Hammond has no agreement with the Friars as 'n the number or class of men it shall rday when Fort Wayne Invades the Plate Line town December 2. If Hammond had the following ba'ikfteld: F.ichenlaub, Oliphant. Chick Harley and Faddy Drisooli, Fort Wayne wouldn't have a kick coming:. Ned!es to say, Parduhn hasn't all

SETTLE YOUR SCRAFSON FIELD THE TIMES finds it necessary to repeat that it will not be the goat for controversies that arise between amateur teams over ahe results of their fames. Fight your battles on the gridiron like men and not in the columns of a newspaper. The Standards and Twisters of Hammond seem to have some dispute in which the public in general is not Interested. Anonymous letters will not be noticed.

FORT WAYNE, Ind., Nov. 11. That the team the Friars will play next Sunday will not be the makeshift organization that so disastrously represented Wabash A. A. during the early weeks of the season is being taken for granted by the Friars, who knowthat when the downstaters unload Sunday at league park it will be with a regular football outfit. One story has it that Paddy Driacoll and Blocker of Hammond ate to be with Waliash in this game, but whoever they are it !s certain tht Wabash will as usual spring something- at the last irinute. The matching of these two teams has sent football inteiest roeketing. and the battle cry is out, "Beat Waba;h." It is assured that this game will attract s record crowd, for the seat sale, which opened this morning, started with a rush., forehanded fans crabbing the best locations as rapidly as they could be taken from th racks. Wabash already has claimed a block of POO seats in the eat bleachers, where the visiting rooters will be massed opposite the "howling hundred" pulling for the Friar". There will be no advance in prices for this game. Of course, while Wabash is loading tip. the Friars do n"t intend going into this game hand icappd by the absence of the men hurt last Sunday and using second-string men. A center of national reputation is to be here to replace Feeney. and Gloekson as well as one other new guard will be on hand, while the baekfleld will have plenty of re!i"f material. Three Ansumeri 'mes. Wabapb has snt the- official line-up for Sunday, and included in the list of players are the names ".Smith." SHE WASN'T EXCITED OVERJHE GAME Besides It Was Blanche's Business What She Was Doing With Her Hand.
This is Drury t'nderwoods latest: "Blanche Ring being in town, it is possible to revive a story concerning her as a card player. She had never taken up poker until slje allowed herself to be blended into a. famil party, and sat in more as a dutiful relative than as an impulsive gamester. 'Her apathy was shown in a pot wherein she was the fourth player in line. The first three had spoken with chips, but Miss Ring was silent and absorbed. Her cards were folded on the tablo, unhandled. and she sat in a position somewhat strained. Her attitude gave no hint whether she was in the pot or out of it. The contenders, all trying to conceal impatience, were still until one of them asked: " 'Blanche, what are you doing with your hand?' "Miss Ring fushed a bit and replied, with a t'uch of asperity: "Tf you MUST ktiov,, I am fixing my garters.'"

NEW TORK, Nov. 22. Jess Willard wants to fight Georges Carpentier for the heavyweight championship of the orld. it was reported yesterday. In view of the fact that a lot of Atlantic Ocean runs between N,ew Tork and somewhere in France, and thai Carpentier is in army service. Georges has been trying for mar.y and many a day to fix it up so he could come to America to fisht for the benefit of the Red Cross, but so far he hasn't had any more luck than the rar.
