If John McOraw had met sire with f.re, and fonght H that way there are reasons to bMevo that he wnild huve given a much hetter aci-oiuit of himself. SUNDAY GAME
Th Hgewisch A. A. and the East Chicaco Gophers will be the attraction at the Twin City Athletic Fielu Sunday afternoon. "The Gophers wul be out to make it elcht straight for the seaso'.i while the Hegrewiseh eleven will step on the field determined to do or die apa;nt Coach Tat McShane's s'ate champions. According to Manager 1'recmycr the boys from across the state line have been improving wonderfully of late and are extremely confident of winning Sunday's contest. The teams were booked to meet earlier in the season but Injuries received by several HeKewisoh men a week before the scheduled date caused that fam to cancel the fame rather abruptly. In order that there may be no hitchin negotiations this time the lletrewisch management has rut up fifty doiiars as a g-uarantee for appearance. Sunday's game will mark the sixth annual battle between the two elevens. The records show that the Gophers have always been victorious although some of the
wins were not very decisive. All the l'.ast Chicago boys escaped ser ous injuries in Sunday's pame with Aurora. That the Gophers are beginning to hit their real stride was evidenced Sunday. The line held like a stone wall ucalnst the visitors. Aurora maKlng but one first down in the entire pnme. The improvement seemed even greater In tb.e baokrield. Time after time a Twin City back, aided by perfect interference, would skirt tb.e end for twerity-tive or thirty yards while Madura, tb.e Gophers' rugged little fullback, was always good for at least five yards. Coach Pat McShane is pleased with the team's progress. He rises to remark that the Gophers will give any 133-115 pound team in the miidlewest a hard battle for honors. The present season marks the Gophers' eighth year on tb.e gridiron. In that tinio they have participated in exactly T3 games, of that number 75 resull?d in Gopher victories. Two were tie games and one was defeat at the hands of the Thorns, lightweight champions of the middlewest.

NEW OFFENSE STYLE ' FOB OHIO CONTEST
MADISON, .WJi.. Nov. 7. The Badgers riinairoi in the first scrimmage of the week yesterday behind closed gates. Most of the time was spent in developing a defense to cope with thy versatile attack of hi State, the yearlings using Hinkeye formations taught them by Coarh I.owiunn. The eoMches have a tremendous task in the few remaining: days, for it will be necessary to build up a nw offense and at the same time create a defense against a style of attack that is faster and more varied than anything the
Gophers showed last Saturday. j A corps of ojiio scouts took home' everything that the Hadgers showed!
against Minnesota, and it is likely that Wisconsin will rely on some other method of attaek than the forward pass in its attempt to defeat last year's champions.

Chick Harley. Ohio State University considers that in Chick Harley, football hero of last season, who is starring as ever this fall, it has a championship team alone. This may not be completely the case, bu; that there is truth in it is acknowledged by those who saw Harley score all of State's twenty-six points in the victory over Indiana a few days ago. Harley looks pretty certain to be the individual star of the western conference this season.

While no formal vote of approval of the plan has been taken by the athletic boards of any of the Big Ten universities, whose approvals are necessary before a post-season game can be played, all have given their informal approval, and Chicago and Michigan alumni who have been working to secure the game are confident that the plan will snoc-ed.
