TWO MEN ARE BADLY BURNED AT WHITING
Two men Henry Berner of 627 Fischrupp avenue and George Breck of the East Side were badly burned at the Standard Oil plant yesterday morninfr. Berner Is a pipe-fitter and Breck
was his helper. Breck was Investigating a steam leak and Berner, noticing him to be in a perilous position, went to his rescue. Both were knocked down In a vat Into which pitch had formerly been thrown. In addition to being burned by the steam, the men were also asphyxiated. When taken out they were rushed to the physicians' offices Breck to Dr. Hoskins and Berner to Dr. Newton. Breck was injured the worst. His legs, back, arms, face and hands were all horribly burned. Berner was burned about the back and arms. The men were taken to the Passa-
vant hospital In Chicago, and although
Breck's burns are very serious the physicians think that if his constitution is strong enough he can recover. Both men are married.
