Cotton Is Ancient. Just who discovered cotton is not known. The early records are ao incomplete that no individual can be credited with the discovery of the value of this wonderful plant. Long before Caesar's time, among the Hindooa. they had a law that if you stole a piece of cotton you were fined three times Its value. Most of the early nations were familiar with cotton the early Egyptians, Chinee and o;her ancient people used It and valued It.
Weil Heeled.. The shipwrecked sailor sat disconsolate on a lonely raft in the middle of the trackless ocean. In his hands he held the last remnants of a pair of shoas.' "Though reduced to the lowest extremities and completely surrounded by water," Tie croaked hoarsely, "I can still take to rny heels." With these words he mad his semiweekly meal and spent the remainder of the afternoon picking th nails out of his teeth.
Adam's Ale as a Beautifter. Of course, you know that you Dever will have a clear white skin unless your diet is right. It is most important to drink plenty of water, from six to eight glasses at intervals during the day. You should avoid rich pastry or sweets, and see that your diet consists as much as possible of simple, easily digested foods. Fresh air and exercise will also help to Improve the complexion. Another master may grudge the sleeping hour, but he must give you time for sleep. Another master may grudge the dinner hour, but sometime you must eat. But worry will work you 24 hours a day and spoil your appetite In tfce bargain. Mark Guy Fearse.

Eighth of Hebrew Prophets. Habakkuk was eighth in order of the minor Hebrew prophets. The strophlcal arrangement of the denunciation of the Chaldeans is a remarkable feature of his prophecy. The whole concludes with a magnificent psalm in chapter 3, a composition that has been considered unrivaled for boldness of conception, sublimity of thought and majesty of diction.
A Double Header. Wesley had teen told that twa engines pulling one train is called double header. Recently he attended a wedding where two sisters married two brothers, both brides being given away by their father. As the wedding procession advanced with ihe brides in the lead he excitedly exclaimed: "Oh. look, mamma ' Here comes a double header of brides."
