September 9. 1317. Sterling's orchestra will furnish the jaz music for dancing and there will be games of every description with prizes consisting of live pigs, ducks and chickens (the feathery kind ) A reception wi.l be tendered to the members who are, joining the colors and every one attending will be given an opfcrtunity to show hi3 patriotism by contributing a cigar, package of cigarettes or tobacco to go into a package to be rnaJc tip by the lodge members and sent to the boys in the. service. The committee in charge vith Harry Harman, the dictators, at its head, assures every one attending the time of their lives, as this picnic will certainly be tho "scream" of South Chicago and will furnish an enjoyable time long to be remembered.

Mr. and Mrs. Kooy and daughter, H. Vonmeyn and Misa Brashler spent Labor Day at Lincoln Park in Chicago. P. Schoonand wife and daughter motored to Lafayette, Ind.. to visit relatives. Miss Erna Kaske left for her school at Cedar Lake on Monday, where she will teich the primary grades the ensuring year. Little Earner Bonestra who broke his arm last week, is getting on nicely. The public and parochial schools started on Tuesday. Mr. Weathers has the upper grades and Miss Fierse the lower. The parochial school has four teachers this year. The Dutch Reform churches had a big crowd at their picnic on Labor Day. P. Tanis went to see the ball game in Chicago on Monday. Mrs. Wiers of Lansing, was buried in th Munster cemetery on Tuesday.
SCHERERVILLE Rev. Father Hursman of Lowell; Rev. A. Badina of "St. John: Rev. J. B. Berg and Rev. C. F. A. Sc'ioll of Hammond, attended the fall festival Sunday and Monday. Carl Johnson and Charles Trimm spent a few days with their parents and friend3 here this week. Miss Theresa Schumacher and Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Anderson spent the week-end at Logansport. The home-coming festival Sunday and Monday at St. Michael's hall was a success. The exact amount realized cannot at the present be stated, as the rrmnev is not all in yet. At least $3.043.65 was realized. The entire parish joins Rev. Wm. Ren: in extending thanks to ail who attended the festival. George X. Card spent Tuesday in Chicago on spoeiil business. Joseph Relplinger ami daughter Clara, spent Tuesdav in Hammond.
