Some of our most serviceable little German effects can no longer to obtained and there is only a scant Showing of Swedish, County Clare and Hungarian model maids. Naturally a tomestie isnt In It with the imported article, but even a "made In America maid" Jsrolng at a premium these days. Really the best little all-around rnodel for general housework Is a
TIMES FASHION DEPARTMENT LADIES' DRESS. By Anabel Worthington.
One of the most popular fads of the tunmer la the rather severe shirtwaist dress which is being worn by well dressed women for mornings on the beach or porch, and even for informal ftftexnoon wear when It la made of washable silk This one. No. 8,876, Is classed with the more fancy dresses of this type. It buttons down the centre back and the collai Is cut in the popular fishtail style, so that it does not have to be fastened at the front The most prominent feature of the waist is the becoming square seek, which ia gathered at the front The long sleeves are a little out of the ordinary, for they are quite wide at the elbow, bnt fit snugly at the wrist Insets of the trimming material make the sleeves more interesting. The yoke Is stitched to the waistline at the slightly raised waistline. A two-piece skirt is gathered to tbyoke. The drew pattern, No. 8,876, is cut in slses 86 to 42 inches bast measure. Width at lower edge of skirt is 2 yards. The 86 inch size requires 4 yards of 36 inch material, with yard of 27 inch contrasting material. To obtain this pattern send 10 cents to the office of this publication. .
Southern product It Is built on generous lines (Mason and Dixon mostly), and is worn very dark this season. It is excellent for cooking and mally shouldn't mind the heat One of this model lot known as The Virginia is particularly smart wears well and is guaranteed fast black. Have you & little Finn la your home? If you contemplate getting one pick It young. A Finn Is always much better at the flapper stage. Finns are especially handy at handing 'round the hash and besides they sort of add an extra finish.
Swedish models ape scarce, aye. there's the rub, but If yon can succeed In snaring one you will find them great for massaging the dishes and rubbing down the furniture and up the silver. We have gone in so extravagantly for everything Chinese this year that it seems only meet we should foil aw up Oriental lines to the chief cook and bottle-washer. A Chinese servant is a
chink through which one bright ray of
light is let in on our dark servant problem. A Japanese is sure to please. With one pf these you 11 live at ease. A Japanese man and his wife are a pair to draw to and two of a right kind that are hard to beat. But It really won't do to be too fussy about your maid servant or jour man servant this season. Tou must'nt mind If your complexion doesn't go with your wall paper or their style conflicts with your period furniture. Toull be lucky if you have any waiter except a dumb waiter or any cook but a flreless cooker. Ruth Chatterton may think she Is ae only one who is starring In "Come Out of the Kitchen" this season but there are others.
