Mr. and Mrs. Tice of Chicago, spent the Fourth in Crown Point, being the guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Fagen. The weather man handed out an ideal brand of weather for Crown Point on the Fourth It was a regular made-toi order day, and certainly pleased the members of the Chamber of Commerce, who always rely on the weather to' make the day for which they work hard and long a success. It was the best celebration Crown Point has ever had, both in attendance and attractions. Hardly a home in Crown Point thit did not have company on ihe Four1! -id the streets were lined with former Crown Pointers and friend who had come to spend the Fourth in the ..Id hom town. It was a regular home-coming day. F. Relnhardt of Valparaiso, was in Crown Point this week calling on his many patrons. Mr. Relnhardt is an expert piano tuner. Mrs. Fre,d Heide. Sr.. Fred Heide. Jr.. Wm. Bartholomae and Walter Reidel of Chicago, spent the Fourth with Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Bartholomae on East street. Miss Goldie Decamp has returned from a week's stay with friends in Chicago, and has resumed work at the -public library. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barck. former residents of Crown Point, where Mr. Barck was editor of the Free Press, spent the Fourth at the home of Judge Kopelke. The two first aid classes which number about fifty members, held their bi-weekly meeting at the library on Monday night, undert the supervision of Dr. Eleanor Scull. Miss Marguerite Geib of Hammond. Is spending a few days this week with Miss Hermlus Lehman. Harry B. Nicholson will leave on Saturday with a party of Hammond friends for Philadelphia and Boston, where they will attend the Elks' convention which convenes in the latter city next week, after which the party will take a sight-seeing tour through the east. Three Inmates of the county farm died on July 4 and were brought to Gelsin's morgue. They were all Hungarians and from the north end of the county. She was removed to her home and attended by a physician. The marriage of Laurence Knight and Miss Emma Gross of Chicago, occurred In Chicago on July 4. the ceremony taking place at 6:30 in the evening. The immediate relatives of both families attended. John Knight of this city attended his brother and Miss Lillian Gross served her sister as bridesmaid. The home was beautifully decorated in green and white and a two-course supper was served after the ceremony, after which the young people left on a short honeymoon, the whereabouts of which they did not make known. They will reside in Crown Point where they have a home all In readiness on South Main street. Those who attended from Crown Point were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knight; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Knight: John and Paul Knight; Miss Helen Thompson: Miss Hattie Waite of Wabash. Ind.. who is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knight. The words grand success can be written in large type when It comes to applying them to Crown Poinfs Fourth of July celebration. Never In the history of Crown Point can even the oldest inhabitant remember seeing such a crowd as lined the streets and packed the Lake county fair grounds from early in the morning till the last strains of the "Home. Sweet Home" waltz was played by the Commercial club orchestra ct the fair grounds. It Is estimated that over 15,000 were at the grounds and 5,000 machines were parked In the grounds and Memorial park. There was something doing every minute of the day, after the parade, which was one of the best ever seen In Crown Point, and which was composed of the following: Leroy Bailey, marshal of the day. Military band. Goddess of Liberty. United States navy boys. Company F. National guard. Red Cross float. G. A. R. City officials. Chamber of Commerce band. St. John's band. Speaker's car. Brzezany has changed hands four or five times since the beginning of the war, but since the Russians have not been imbued with the German ideas of "frightf ulness" the town still stands intact.

The crowd was a g-ood-natured one and enjoyed every thing that had been provided for their amusement. The Chamber of Commerce can be congratulated and thanked by the Crown Point people for their annual Fourth of July celebration certainly boosts Crown Point and puts it on the map, there being people here from as far west as California and as far south as Georgia. Mrs. Chester Beach has returned from a short trip to Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Geonte Krinbill and family of South Chicso, have returned home after a r'"asant visit at the home of Frsnk Krlnblil. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Wheaton were guests of Gary friends at a theatre party to see "Seven Chances." at the Cort theatre in Chicago, Thursday night. Miss Louise Crawford entertained a party of young ladies at 6 o'clock din. ner at her home on Main stret. last night. Word wag received here by relatives of the death of a small child of Joe Huber, well known in Crown Point, but of late of Montana, where he owns a ranch. Miss Frances Grimmer has returned from a short visit with Chicago friends. Mrs. Frank Dudley of Hammond, who will be remembered by Crown Point people as Cora Boney. spent a couple of days in Crown Point this week. Mrs. Dudley is studying vocal music in New York City and has also been In the movies. She Is spending the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mat Boney In Hammond. Dr. Harry J. Laws of Lafayette, a former resident of Crown Point, and son of Edwin Laws of this city, accompanied by his wife are spending a few days in Crown Point. Dr. Laws will spend next week in Chicago where he will attend the clinics at several different hospitals. Miss Alta Foss is working at the Crown Point Telephone Co. during the
