YDUE POBJTBGAL W (B MLB BR! HR1 HDSM R! A (FROM THE TIMES' OWN INDIANAPOLIS BUREAU)

TIMES' BUREAU AT STATS CAPITAL. INDIANAPOLIS. Ind.. June 29. Thing-a have been moving: rapidly in the last two days for the Democratic political machine In this city, and indications are that they will continue to move rapidly for some of the others Ijigrh In the machine operations in the yclitics of the city.- Chief of .Police Pam Perrott end five other men. all of whom are police officials except Herman Adam, who is city inspector of weights and measures, who were convicted in he Fedet-al court of conspiracy to commit election frauds in 1914. have given notice that they will aslc for a new trial, and that they are ready to appeal the case to the higher Federal courts. They have been ordered by Judge Geiger of Milwaukee, who presided at the trial, to bo in court on July 10 for further action. And now the Interest lies in what the Federar nrand Jury may o when It comes in session here on Jily 11. tlie d aftei the convicted men are in in court. A lot of evidence was

produced at the trial of these men

which brought the name of MayorEell

and other politicians into the case, and there is a suspicion that the Federal grand Jury may look into all of these things to see if any other persons than those who were convicted violated the Federal law. It is possible, also, that one or two Republican politicians may yet be dragged into the case. There is a belief that the result of the Perrott trial will have the effect of cleaning up the political situation in Indianarolis. For many years politicians have cared but little how they won elections in this city, and some times the methods employed have been no more reputable than those that featured the reign of Donn Roberts at Terre Haute, who is now in the penitentiary at Leavenworth. Kan. But it is believed that the Perrott case has put a crimp in that kind of politics from which the gang will not recover in many a day. There is one notable feature about the Pc-rrott juse, however, that robs it of its partisan color, and that is that the three lawyers representing the gov-

erntmcnt 'n the prosecution were Frank D. Daily. L. Ert Slack and Milton Mangus, all Democrats, It is believed that Democratic and ReHMican election crooks alike will have a more wholesome respect for the law hereafter than they had heretofore, and that the political atmosphere, as well as civic conditions, in this city, will be better from now or..

BAKERS PLEDGETO CUT BREAD FROM 9 TO 5C WASHINGTON, June 29. "We will reduce the nine cent loaf of bread to flve cents." This was the declaration of the National Association of Bakera today after a conference with Herbert C. Hoover, food administrator. The bakers also voted a war chest of $100,000 and expect

through their 250 agencies to cut the cost of bread almost in two. To obtain this result the bakers have arranged to eliminate waste. One of the first steps will be to standardize the loaf. There will be no more "fancy" breads.
